If you read the whole story of Hector in The Iliad he's the most tragic.

Spoiler (Thrones related)

I think the dragonhorn binds dragons to the bloodline of the blower, how else could it be worth the price? It fits with what we know of the Targ/dragon relationship. I really don't like the idea of Theon as a dragonrider but he's a strong darkhorse imo.

I really think it's the only appropriate death for him.

I think Roose reminds him one time too many that he's a bastard. He looses it and Roose cuts his arse to pieces.

I don't see why Roose killing him is a satisfying arc for him. Sorry, but Roose needs to go down Red Wedding style, and Ramsay needs to go down screaming like a girl.

One really horrific thing that is made clear in the books is that he looses his fingers, toes, etc. by having them skinned and then having to beg to have them cut off when the pain from the skinning is too excruciating to bear. I'm not sure that part comes across clearly in the show. Hell, the show really can't depict the actual act of skinning which would probably be too much for even HBO.

Even better.....the twisted feelings of "gratitude" for him to alleviate his pain by removing the extremity.

Meh, just makes sense to me.

Oh well neither will probably happen. He'll probably just die of the Pale Mare.

I mean Harry Potter, Twilight, hunger games doesn't have any incest rape.

You need to re-read Harry Potter, it's pretty heavily implied.

think it's charming that there are so many readers of young adult fantasy novels on this board.

They're probably the most adult adult books I've ever read.

Young adult fiction doesn't feature frequent rapes, incest, child murder, or border on torture porn.

I'm just now finishing a week long binge watch of GoT. Wife got me hooked.

I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I hate everything about this "Reek" storyline.

He has become one of my favorite story lines.

The final part of his story in book 5 is one of the most redeeming moments of any part of any of the books IMO.

Though technically it's told from Asha's P.O.V. (I think)

*reek rides up unrecognizable*

"Don't you recognice me sister? Theon Greyjoy. A man has got to have a name."

I was like, boom, drop book, walk away.

I'm %100 sure I booted that quote up. But that was the general point. Top 10 moment of the entire series for me.
