Is "Jesus Christ Superstar" the GOAT musical?

I'd say yes. But it's hard for me to judge because I generally don't care for musicals. I loved this one (seems like they went out and got the best voices they could find when casting it - they could all really sing).

Outside of that the only musicals I can remember even liking were Grease and maybe some old ones like Oklahoma to the extent I can remember that one.

Only one of those I'd give a re-watch to would be West Side Story.

Not sure what it is about musicals but for the vast majority of them I just can't get into them. Seems like they sacrifice plot for the sake of the songs or something.

JC superstar is not the greatest of all time.

BUT..Ive always felt it was under appreciated

Phantom of the opera, cats, and les Miserables are all longer running, and at least 2 of those 3 are better than JC superstar

For movies, yes

Actual stage productions, no. Phantom is by far the best. Evita is the most underrated
