It's because no one wanted to play as Robin on the playground during recess period. I was the same way. Why be Robin when you can be Batman?

Who's talking about Robin?

He's not Robin anymore, and hasn't been for like 35 years now. That's kind of the point. He's one of the few comic book characters that not only has been allowed to age in the cannon timeline, but change. And with that, become a more complete character.

And on that note, why be Batman when you can be Superman? Who is infinitely more powerful. Would you rather have laser eyes or be really, really good at paperwork?

When I was in the third grade, Batman Forever had just come out. Dick Grayson was Robin in that movie. When we played during recess, no one wanted to be Robin. Most casual superhero fans like myself are aware that Grayson has since moved on and become Nightwing, but that still doesn't change the fact that no one wanted to play as him on the playground when we were eight years old.

Could be worse. They could have put him in movies and fricked up his character as badly as they did Cyclops.

Nightwing would be a great choice for DC's first R-rated superhero.

True story on both.

Everybody Loves Dick is already on Amazon Prime.

Will audiences sit for him being raped though?

"Hey, we just murdered a guy that was gunning for everybody you love. Instead of killing Babs, I got her to break up with you, so while you have a mental breakdown and go catatonic, I'm gonna break off some dick, Dick. Oh and then I'm gonna henpeck you into marrying me while your mind is broken.

and even they are better villains for Batman than fricking Darkseid. I mean seriously. Darkseid could rip Batman in two.

If anybody is interested, there's a pretty good documentary on Hulu called Batman and Bill..

Google it, I'm on my phone.

Haven't read a single comment.
But will put my own biased opinion in.

Batman is not overrated.
The beauty of comic book heroes is relation to your escape.
Superman is god
Aquaman can breathe underwater
Captain America is a hero
Green lantern found luck with no fear.
Batman could be you, if you tried hard enough.
Sherlock Holmes combined with Conan the barbarian, combined with flash Gordon, combined with the phantom.

Has he been over stylized.. maybe. But not overrated

I may or may not have pointed this out before.

That clip proves my point. Literally can't do anything to Darkseid. He magically breaks Darkseid's code to unleash what is effectively a bomb on Apokalips. Then he gets thrown around like a child's toy but since he's got the trump card (as he always seems to have because... fricking dossiers) he wins. It's compelling for a little bit, but it strains credulity, even in the DC world of heroes, that Batman can always win by pulling some shite out of his arse.
