Just watched again last night. I've now seen it probably close to 10 times. And every time, I can't stop watching. I love everything about it. You can't convince me anyone other than Oscar Isaac would have done that role such justice.

John Goodman is probably my second favorite character behind the lead. But he always is one of my faves.

The soundtrack is flawless and timeless.

Particularly this song, which has become one of my favorites of all time

What an incredible picture. So many emotions and trials throughout

When I realized he Oscar sang and played those tunes himself, I was blown away.

I liked the movie to begin with, but that sealed it.

That's a movie that gets better with each viewing. At first I thought it was a middle of the road Coen Bros. film but after seeing it a few times, now it's in my top 3.

So true. I don't think it's one I could ever grow tired of. The struggle Llewyn goes through is something else.

A piece of symbolism I picked up on last night. At the end, he goes back to playing the Gas Light after Jean's convincing. He plays an outstanding performance, and is feeling good about himself. Directly after, he walks out back to meet someone waiting for him. It's the husband of the old lady he heckled off stage who swiftly punishes him.

Is all that to say Llewyn just can't catch a break? That even when he's riding high for a short period, the things from his past will come back to bite him? Maybe the punishment he receives from the old man is the end of all his trouble?

We saw it a few times in the theater and watched it repeatedly since then.

One of my top theater experiences of all time. Had no idea that it would be that good.

F. Murray Abraham wanted John Goodman's role until the brothers explained that they'd saved that role for John.

It's on my list. I'll get around to it, eventually.

I mean, I finally watched The Prestige, didn't I.

That is so awesome on multiple levels. That role was written for John Goodman and my did he play it well.

I think I'm down to True Grit and ILD as the 2 Coens' English language directorial efforts that I haven't seen.

I don't know why I watched A Serious Man first, but I did. I liked it, but was underwhelmed.

ILD may happen this summer. I just don't watch Coen films for the first time, casually. Not since Raising Arizona when I didn't know who the hell they were.

Even worse, the guy following him on stage is Bob Dylan, in what we are to assume is his first public performance. Llewyn is about to become a footnote.

...You're no front guy but if you can grow a goatee, stay out of the sun, we might see how your voice works with the other two. Comfortable with harmonies?

A fine movie. The thing is, if we're honest, Llewin is kind of a dick. Creates many of his own problems. Still, he's sympathetic.

I wouldn't call him a dick outright. He's a dick because he's a pessimist and does indeed invite everything that happens to him. I love his character, I see a lot of myself in him. Idk if that's a good thing...

I always forget that part.

And as llewyn is walking by, he is staring at Dylan, as is the movie audience. God what a film

I also noticed last night. In the final scene with Jean (sp?) after she tells him of her signing him up for the show, they both have a cheeky interchange of words, to which Jean ends the convo with a quick "come on," and then cut scene quickly. I think she was telling him to bang her and they banged right after. Llewyn really riding high now

It must. I've seen it once a few months back and I thought it was pretty good. But not near as good as people claimed on here

He's a total dick and it's why I just can't enjoy this movie as much as others. Now his ex is kind of a bitch too because it takes two to get pregnant and she blames it all on him, but he really doesn't care about anyone else and him getting beat up at the end was karma for his dickishness. This movie to me is very similar to a Serious Man, where it's pretty depressing and there isn't a lot of humor. When I watch a Cohen Brothers film I much prefer stuff like Lewbowski, Raising Arizona, and O Brother Where art Thou. There are enough edgy and depressing movies for me to get that from somewhere else.
