I feel like we needed a place to aggregate all the recent news and theories regarding the MCU. Lots of new information coming out between CA2 and Agents of SHIELD. Plus news on Agent Carter, the Netflix deals, and upcoming films. Feel free to link what you like, ask what you want, and speculate on everything. And my personal favorite thing, tell us who you want cast as your favorite characters.

I wonder if Hydra will be a big enemy in the Next Avengers. It seems it's setting up for that with the Baron and take over of Shield. I just wonder what will go on between now and next summer in the MCU.

Good stuff. I've said it before: the MCU needs to get people used to new characters quickly. If RDJ is really done with Iron Man after a couple of Avenger movies, we need a new Stark. I like RDJ a lot in the role, but I like Iron Man more. Just like with Cap though, I'd take War Machine in a couple of films, but I doubt that means a solo IM outing.

That was one of the things I was thinking about. Obviously Ultron is the big bad in Avengers 2. And he's a big bad indeed. I'm just wondering where he originates. I imaging the popular theory is that he's somehow born out of Stark's Jarvis AI and much derided 'House Party' plays into it somehow.

Hank Pym has only been hinted at so far, and I think Whedon has said they've changed Ultron's origins to fit the existing MCU.

Where Hydra and the twins fit into Ultron's origin is going to be really interesting.

This universe can go so far. I'm glad that cinematic technology can bring movies like this to life. I shrudder to think of how these movies would have been in the 80's.

I dunno, Hydra is not interesting to me at all. Not worthy of being involved much more and esp not with the Avengers

FWIW, IMDb list Paul Bettany as the voice of both Jarvis and The Vision. The Vision had this biography:

quote:

"The Vision" Ultron created his "vision of the future" as an Evil android to help destroy the Avengers. With the ability to modify his density, becoming either intangible or super-strong at a moment's notice. With the help of S.H.I.E.L.D., Vision broke free from his evil creator and joined the Avengers. Despite his analytic mind and artificial origins, he has proven himself to be a defender of humanity in all respects.

This theory is crazily awesome

It also appears that Bettany (who voices Jarvis in all of the iron man movies) will not be just a voice in this role, but will be acting as The Vision

Why is a shadow organization that is the antithesis of the organization that assembled the Avengers not interesting?

What about them makes them not interesting?

Not a bad theory. I'd rather Stark come back in full for the last Avengers though, then go down for the count in a blaze of Iron-Manness against Thanos.

You're going to need some major hero deaths against Thanos as well.

I read somewhere where someone said Thanos is driving the conflict in Guardians of the Galaxy.

I believe this to be true as well. It is my understanding that Thanos will be the main villain in Avengers 3 and the Guardians' will be a part of this.

I'm still interested to see how apparently Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, and Quicksilver play into all of this. (Still makes me throw up in my mouth to think about them not being mutants or Magneto's children.)

At least they're not using the douchey looking disco hipster Quicksilver from Days of Future Past. The mutant vs "miracles" thing I can deal with it. The biker jacket, utility belt, goggles thing not so much.

I liked winter soldier and Hydra was ok for Captain America but I don't need to see anymore. And I want to see Avengers fight someone like Thanos or Ultron. Maybe bc shadow organizations can be done in any movie and are more fit for James Bond than the Hulk and Thor.

The fact that Bettany is playing both Jarvis and Vision suggests a link between Stark and Ultron's origin. However in The Winter Soldier with the introduction of Dr. Zola as a computer, is it possible he isn't really destroyed and that is part of Ultron's origin? THis would fit if Hydra is to play a major part in the nexts Avengers.

I thought of this while watching Winter Soldier, but I hope it's not the case. I would prefer they make him MODOK

Agreed. MODOK would fit better with his character.

It might be a streach though to tie HYDRA with AIM that way.

Edit. Nevermind I was thinking of something else. lol

No. You're not wrong, but it's no more of a stretch than having Ultron without Hank Pym
