If I could sneak mini series into the definition of "movie", I'd go with:

1 - Lonesome Dove
2 - Band of Brothers
3 - That Tulisa Contostavlos "tape" that's going around on the internet.

If mini series are out, then:

1 - Airplane
2 - Godfather , part II
3 - The Tulisa Contostavlos tape.

Star Wars (pre special edition)
Metropolis (1926)
Dracula (1931)
Night of the Living Dead (1968)
King Kong (1933)
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Batman (1989)
North by Northwest
Shawshank Redemption
The Natural
Sin City
Thunderball
Hooisers
Alien
The Godfather
The Manchurian Candidate (Original)
The Exorcist
Eddie Murphy: Delerious
Bill Cosby Himself
Good Morning Vietnam

It's awesome man. Exactly what a comic book movie should be. I'd tell you to read the Avengers thread but then that would be spoiling it for you.

ETA: I'd recommend you go see it in IMAX 3D but I'm not sure if they're still playing it in there.

I wouldn't watch movies if this were the case.

Interesting question...

These aren't necessarily my favorite 3 movies but for a little variety I'd choose:

Godfather I
Star Wars episode IV
