Not sure what pictures you're looking at, but McShane's no more tan than many northern characters. I'm calling it: Randyll Tarly.

Yeah, he has to be Randyll Tarly, although I'm not sure why they are keeping that secret.

At first when I heard "mystery character" I thought The Sword of the Morning, but Ian is way too short. MAYBE Howland Reed but that doesn't make a whole lot of sense either (he's too old to be playing a flashback Howland).

Not sure how you end up with that tan as a Northern Lord.

Tarly is not from the North. Horn Hill is south of Highgarden, a little north of Dorne and west of the Stormlands.

Why's it gotta be a flashback? GRRM said he'd be appearing in the books so he could show up this season. We're all Hodors now....

Horn Hill is about as south as you can go on Westeros

Jonathan Pryce has already been cast in that role.

Yeah that's pretty goddamn great casting.

Although WinterIsComing just discouraged me about a certain major character.

Explain this. I feel like a joke went over my head.

Some people believe that the High Sparrow is secretly Howland Reed.

I never thought much of it, but when Olenna meets him on the show, she calls him "little man." Might be nothing, but it's interesting.

Like I said it's farther south than Highgarden, well north of Dorne. It's northeast of Oldtown.
