I forgive you for not loving GOT. I'm the ultimate sinner on this board bc I don't care for Breaking Bad, which is a show you might've heard positive things about here.

I guess its cool to say you hate it.

I watched the first season in its entirety and then read the series.

Reading the books helps you enjoy the show more imo.

I'm not cool at all.

I don't read the books but I'm a middle grounder now

The show is much more enjoyable if you know the ins and outs of Roberts Rebellion.

If there's one thing id say negative about the show, it's how little they go into that, because it effects pretty much every move and decision from the rest of the story.

Now is the perfect time to binge watch the series and also read the books.

If you find yourself engrossed at all by the series I would suggest reading the books.

There is a character whose name begins with "H", and you will hang on his every word like it was an Al Swearengen soliloquy. You have much to look forward to, my friend.

This is so true.

The fact that they have barely touched on it at all in the show makes me wonder if they are planning on backtracking at some point. It sounds kinda crazy, but a prequel style season would be incredible, would answer a lot of questions and it would buy them some more time for Martin to finish the series.

Any tips for a GoT noob going into the first season?

God help you if you're smart enough to figure things out on your own before the show spells it out for you and post about it here.

David Benioff, the screenplay adaptor for GoT, is an incredible novelist in his own right and has quit writing books to do this GoT gig. Ridiculous.

Pays more. But we'll always have City of Thieves... O what could have been.
