This, and your "knowledge" of Robert's Rebellion pretty much proves it. The show really will have to go back and explain things more fully at some point or the ending isn't likely to jive at all with the HOdors.

End of Season 2 update.

- I like Tyrion Lannister. What a clever little man.

- WTF happened to Theon? How could he turn on the Starks like that?

- I got my naval battle that I was hoping for

- I'm interested to see what role the dragons play in Dany trying to get to the Iron Throne

- I didn't understand why Jon Snow killed Qhorin Halfhand. Can someone tell me why?

- Ygritte (Jon Snow's crush) love her accent.

Snow killed Halfhand to gain the trust of the wildlings. Halfhand let him win.

Theon turned on the Starks to gain respect from his father. The iron islands had warred, and lost, to Robert and Ned in the past.

Ned took Theon as a ward, basically a hostage, as a result of the iron islands losing the war.

They discuss it right before it happens. So the Wildlings think Jon Snow turns.

Well technically he's been a Stark prisoner of war for his entire life

Don't want to spoil anything. Not sure it the explaination would spoil something because I can't remember where that storyline stopped at that point. It gets explained

Remind me again, is Jon trying to become one of the wildlings just so they don't kill him? Or is this part of some elaborate plan where he goes undercover and sabotages the wildlings from within for the Nightswatch?

The Lord commander sent the Halfhand and Snow on a scouting mission into the frost fang mountains.

Eventually they were spotted by an eagle (wildling warg). The wildlings would of killed them both and made armor from their bones. So..Halfhand sacrificed himself to let Jon live.

Qhorin was feared by the wildlings for his fighting ability. So them seeing Jon kill him makes a big impression

Ehh this may be spoilery... frick it. I miss game of thrones threads

this wasn't clear to me until I read the book. I too binged watched and missed many details.

There are those semi-animated series, 3 or 4, that cover pre-show history pretty well, narrated by the actual actors from the show.

They treated him like a son. Likely better than his own would have.

That's why I said technically

Theons got daddy issues, that's why he betrayed the Starks. Plus he's just a little prick in general

OBERYN MARTELL WTF? Death by fricking monologue! And I thought Robb and Catelyn Stark's death was gruesome.

Do any of the good guys survive this show?

If you thought this had a happy ending you haven't been paying attention.

FYI...You may want to throw the word "spoilers" in the title of this thread.

Yeah, I just started watching GoT this summer, and finished season 4 last week. I was pretty upset with with the outcome of the Red Wedding also. But everyone on here told me to stick with it, and I'm really glad I did.

Keep in mind that the author of ASOIAF has said that there is an element of his characters that are either not 100% good or 100% evil. There is a lot of grey mixed in there. Even some of the supposedly "good" characters like Catelyn do some crappy stuff like betraying her son by releasing Jamie Lannister, which causes dissension with is allies and eventually leads to the events at the Red Wedding.

Even some of the most "innocent/good" characters start to do some "not so innocent" stuff, Sansa and Arya being prime examples.

But with that said, I hope that House Stark ends up rising out of the ashes at some point. I really hated to see the that house get demolished like it did.

The red wedding was overrated.

Looking back, im more happy that Catelyn died than I am sad about Rob

And really I was sadder about robs super fine wife dying than anything

i noticed that you use the words good/bad in this post and in another when you asked about Dany.

since you seem pretty caught up, one thing that's been proven is that not many of the "good" or maybe let's use the word "honorable" characters do very well in the "game of thrones".

but the same can be said for the extreme bad/dishonorable ones. and on top of that GRRM just kills a bunch of other characters for good measure.

in GOT it's hard to find someone "good" without a bad or weak trait, and it's hard to find someone truly bad with no (like not even 1) redeeming quality.

i'm sure one could write a thesis on good/evil in the GOT world pretty easily.
