I'd like to re watch all the star wars before force awakens. I'd also like to not spend $80 buying them. What are my options.

Netflix will do a one month free trial for the DVD by mail. Sign up for that, watch them all, then cancel the subscription.

Sorry you're poor you can't afford a $10.00 ticket. Probably spent that much this week on red bull and snack cakes.

I'm fully aware of the work done, but is there a fairly easy way to obtain these? I'm dying to get and burn them

Borrow them without permission, just make sure to return it.

Off-topic, but related to the despecialized editions;

it still baffles me that George Lucas would do such a huge about-face regarding movies. He was one of the leading voices opposing the colorization of classic B&W movies. He said the movies should be seen as filmed, because of the craft involved in the film-making. And if you go watch some old movies, there incredible attention to detail when it comes to lighting, shadows, etc... things that would be lost with a cheap color-wash.

Well, the same thing applies to Star Wars. It took ILM 3 years to create the special effects they did with miniatures, and I remember being amazed at documentaries showing the work that went into it. Dubbing in some cheap CGI decades later is a mockery to the work that went in originally.
Ok, rant over
