No, not really. But you may end up liking characters like I did much in the way you end up rooting for some bad guys in movies/shows like Sons of Anarchy, The Godfather, Goodfellas etc. They're really bad people but for some reason you like them.

God no. They are all awful. How this show became such a mass hit blows my mind.

Just dont make the same mistake I made. I watched till like the 4th season because everyone raves about how good it is. I kept thinking, everyone cant be wrong, it cant stay so bad. So I kept watching.

It doesnt get any better. It gets worse.

What's with all of these down votes for SG? The show takes a while to get into. I only pushed through because of how highly regarded it was here. Just keep watching. By the last or 2nd to last episode of season 1 you'll be hooked.

You'll grow to like Hank - in all likelihood. He isn't always easy to like, but if there's a hero - it's Hank.

And there are others you might like, down the line - Mike, for example.

with iluv and OP still only being in season 1, should you be saying stuff like that?

Saying Hank is a hero (he's a DEA agent) and "you might like Mike" is spoilerish?

I feel like I'm in a GoT Hodor thread...

Saying Hank is a hero

they're not even through with season 1 which is only 6 frickin episodes. They know what hank does, and know the main premise with walt, so yes it seems like saying hank is a hero could imply certain things.

"you might like Mike"

considering they haven't even met mike yet, I'd say it'd be preferable to not even mention him at all.

I enjoyed the show, but think it was incredibly overrated. It did have really good writing, but there were many times while watching it that my interest waned, and I found most of the characters so loathsome it just wasn't that interesting.

To answer the OP, season 2 is when it really picks up.

All I ever saw on this board was awesome, amazing, GOAT. Maybe that is why I am feeling underwhelmed.

You've watched three episodes.

Three episodes.

Three.

Some of you people are so ridiculous about your "spoilers." A character's name and general premise of a story aren't spoilers.

It's over hyped by everyone that watched it live just like every other classic that ended (the wire, the sopranos, Seinfeld, etc...) but that doesn't mean it's not fantastic. Give it a season and a half and if you still don't like it then give it up.

Am I supposed to like any of the characters I have met so far? I can't stand any of them. Am I supposed to care that the main character has cancer, when he barely acknowledges it himself? Am I supposed to care that his wife is pregnant when she's such a bitch to everyone around her? Her sister and BIL absolutely suck. I really just want to fast forward through every scene the wife and sister have. I have mild interest in Cranston's meth dealing partner, but it's not enough to make me wonder what happens to him next. Cranston himself just grosses me out. When do I start caring about these people???

It's the #1 problem in the show, and would have made it better to have someone worth a damn.

But this is also the place where opinions differ mostly. I can't stand shows where no one is at least sympathy-worthy. It's just a waste of time to watch people be terrible people continually over and over again. The show gets better, and it is "high quality," it just isn't interesting television in the long run.

I can appreciate the craft and the quality and all that good stuff, but the show is just cold-hearted and devoid of any positivity.
