Granted, we didn't have internet back then so we couldn't discuss it like we do now.

I personally enjoyed his roll. His one liners just went with the rest of the movie. Leslie Jones not so much.

"I've seen shite that'll turn you white." That just sounds better come from a black guy.

Ray, when someone asks you if you're a god, you say "YES"!

Janine Melnitz: Do you believe in UFOs, astral projections, mental telepathy, ESP, clairvoyance, spirit photography, telekinetic movement, full trance mediums, the Loch Ness monster and the theory of Atlantis?
Winston Zeddemore: Ah, if there's a steady paycheck in it, I'll believe anything you say.

Winston Zeddemore: Hey, wait a minute. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey! Hold it! Now, are we actually gonna go before a federal judge, and tell him that some moldy Babylonian god is going to drop in on Central Park West, and start tearing up the city?
Dr. Egon Spengler: Sumerian, not Babylonian.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Yeah. Big difference.
Winston Zeddemore: No offense, guys, but I've gotta get my own lawyer.

We didn't care.

Everybody didn't consider themselves a film expert and critic back then.

We had Siskel and Ebert and we really just watched them to get previews of the movies.

Part was meant for Eddie Murphy he backed out so they scaled back the character big time

It was a simpler time, man. People had actual problems back then. Pretty sure I remember the casting caused nary a ripple on the news that night.

I thought he was perfect for the role, and his one liners were gold.

80s kids grew up with funny arse black sitcoms, Richard Pryor and Eddie Murphy. Nobody gave the first shite about it.

No one cared a bit. I was in the theaters to see it. The crowd rolled with laughter
I think they should have used him more. But there was a lot of star power in that movie.
Moranis was great too, as always

When Murphy dropped out the character was rewritten from a lead to an Everyman and it honestly worked better. Murphy would have been too much with the others

Just seemed like a cool, funny, humble dude.

No one cared.

We didn't know about the parts being for Belushi and Murphy and we didn't know about Ray Parker ripping off Huey Lewis.

The kids didn't know about the 70's Ghostbusters.

I doubt many knew that it was the same director as Stripes.

I didn't know until years later that Eddie Murphy was who they originally wanted. I'm glad Hudson got it, because I think Murphy would have been too much of a distraction, and he would have competed with Murray to be the most flamboyant character. The movie only works with one such character.

Also the Ernie Hudson character was intelligent. They cut it out of the movie but he was also supposed to be a Ph.D.

I was pissed how he bailed out on them in jail.. Other than that I thought he played a great Everyman non scientist who joined the crew.. I also find leslie jones character completely ironic with all the sjw defense of the movie after the trailers dropped..

You forgot my favorite.

Dr Ray Stantz: Every ancient religion has its own myth about the end of the world.
Winston Zeddemore: Myth? Ray, has it ever occurred to you that maybe the reason we've been so busy lately is 'cause the dead HAVE been rising from the grave?
Dr Ray Stantz: [Pause ] How 'bout a little music?
Winston Zeddemore: Yeah.

No shite. It was a comment. You're very emotional about ghostbusters.
