Finished the first 2 episodes and it is so fantastic I'm almost sad that I'm at the last episode

German perspective of WWII. Basic premise is 5 friends in June 1941 took a photograph together and promised each other they would all meet at this same spot Christmas Day after the war was won. Follows all 5 of them and how the tide of the war turns on them and where it takes them

Honestly it's probably my 2nd favorite piece of WW2 Television behind Band of Brothers. Although you need English subtitles the acting is phenomenal and I think knowing the German perspective is important to fully understanding World War II

I don't know nearly enough about WWII as I should and I'm ashamed of myself.

Nazi Germany was bad. They had a few other nations on their side, but had their butts kicked by the USA and other allies. Japan was also stirring shite up in Asia and the Pacific. That whole thing went nuclear.

The End.

Make sure you reserve 6 hrs. It's a 3 part mini-series and you will not be able to watch only one. You will want to watch it all the way through. It's like Saving Private Ryan only better produced, acted and from a German perspective. The fighting scenes are intense as hell.

Just got into this after seeing this thread. Wow. Very well produced. It is indeed like a shorter, German Band of Brothers in terms of production, writing quality, and realism.

I have that song at the end of ep. 1 stuck in my head. It is mistranslated in the Netflix subtitles, fyi... you can youtube it for the correct translation.
