He's got a great look obviously but in a business of perfection he's a relative shrimp with an awkwardly huge nose who has reached the highest pinnacle as an actor. Probably a badge of honor, yes?

He was an absolute heartthrob in his day. Shrimpiness doesn't translate on screen. He worked his good looks until he became an action star and then worked his Scientology until he became a legend of the screen.

Exactly. A lot of people don't know this but Tom Cruise is actually 4'10".

From most accounts, he's one of the nicest people on the planet. I've heard he can sit next to a homeless person and make them feel like they are the most awesome person in the world.

He's actually a decent actor who has mostly good judgement on what projects to take. The guy is a weirdo and short, but I do enjoy most Tom Cruise movies.

Yep.

1. He knows everybody's name that he's worked with and remembers it. I'm talking down to like craft service people and shite.

2. He takes time to teach acting technique to anyone who asks. Stunt guys, extras, whatever.

3. He's the only major actor in Hollywood who does his own driving. Driving stunts that is. A lot of people hype about this actor does his own stunts etc. none of them drive accept for Tom.

My good friend has worked with him numerous times. Says he's one of the best people he's ever met.

It helps to have a full staff of Scientology slaves wait on your every beckon call.

I would say Kevin Costner has definitely done more with less. I haven't liked Costner's acting in any of his roles except Open Range and Hatfields and McCoys. Cruise is a solid actor who consistently makes good movies.

He works his arse off and insists on doing most of his own stunts.

Ask any coach if they'd rather have a guy with a bunch of raw talent or a guy who works his arse off and they take the workhorse 9/10 times.

He also had a knack for making some awesome movies. The guy might have the most impressive movie resume ever.

I think we should clarify this to action movies, but with that said, I agree he has the most impressive resume of any action star.

Who else has a better acting resume?

Please don't list a guy that's made 2 or 3 great films.

Cruise has been in long standing top grossing hits in multiple dramas

I think Jerry Maguire was one of his best movies - maybe the best. And Risky Business is still a classic. I wish he'd do more non-action movies.

Box office gross, save for some voice actors who are a part of everything, then sure. But I'm thinking of men like Peter O'Toole and DDL

In terms of box office appeal and critical acclaim, I would say Harrison Ford and Tom Hanks and that's about it.

Which is exactly why I said:

I'm not taking about Cruise as the best technical actor. I said he has a phenomenal resume. He picks great movies and he makes the movies he's in better. It shows.

He's a hard worker and he's a genuinely nice guy.

He's batshit crazy but he's a nice guy.

He's strange but by most accounts he's one of the nicest guys in Hollywood. That counts for something.
