To be fair, I've never like JS though. He and Norm are two that I've just never agreed with the board about (and I know they're massively popular outside of the board too).

I've laughed at both though, so it's not like I don't think anything they ever do is funny. But I do think Jerry is kind of a dick sometimes. It's just weird that fans of his refuse to accept that like it's not okay for him to be one or something.

Just because someone agrees with you doesn't mean you aren't crazy, it just means 2 crazy people found each other Just to clarify, you're referring strictly to the clip you posted in the OP right? I just don't see how you don't look at it and go "that's a bit" It's a pretty lazy and cliched bit at that.

Well for starters im not of the thinking that being a dick is the worst thing ever i was just a little put off because from his onscreen persona id take him to be come across less arrogant. which is dumb on my part

About as dumb as people liking his routine and therefore being unable to accept he might be a dick it doesnt mean he fights pit bulls or slaps babies

I wouldn't be surprised if he's a dick, he's a comedian and a TV star, so the odds of him being a down to earth nice guy are pretty low. I just don't see how you get that out of a comedy routine. For instance, talking about running a test pattern instead of a rerun was an attempt at humor, not an attempt to to make Jimmy Kimmel look bad for doing something nice. How you watched that and thought "what a dick" instead of "what a lame bit" is beyond me. Maybe you're picking up on some body language like that fake smile early on.

Leno's comedic persona is very affable and likable and yet he is dispised by many many people in the industry

I don't understand why people are having such a hard time getting that JS is a dick. I thought it was pretty well known. Whether or not you think he's joking in those videos is another thing. Either way, he does sound like a dick. If he's trying to be funny, he failed, IMO.

And see, I read it as a lame bit with some truth and a little bit of Jimmy Kimmel shade thrown in there.

I don't think he may necessarily dislike Kimmel, but he definitely came off to me like he was pretty unimpressed with Kimmel's decision to honor Dave.

ETA: and I agree that those clips prove nothing. But this is just my opinion on the clips and on JS.

Keep in mind that Jerry isn't a young guy anymore. He's going to have the usual resentment towards the younger guys that us old people tend to have. Makes it easier to make fun of them.

And since Jerry was one of the comics that built the original Letterman show, he's going to have a skewed perspective on how people think of Dave and his show.

He's far from being an old Mickey Rooney, scoffing at every performer who came after him.

That wasn't bad. He wasn't really hating on either. Just joking about the rerun.

That was a great video of those four.

Out of all of them I agree with Louis C K the most.

I think some people just misinterpret Seinfeld

And boring, lifeless and flavorless, like your grandmother's oatmeal that she eats the morning after watching Leno, self-assured that she will not be surprised or offended in any way. He's like comedy Ambien.
