Florence, Italy is the perfect backdrop for this show.

I had a little trouble following wtf was going on tonight at times, but I figured it out.

I'm ready for some Will Graham.

I like how it played against audience expectations - 'you wanna know what happened to the characters after last season? Well, here's Hannibal talking about Dante.'

Things will rev up next week, but I love seeing Hannibal in that enviroment and life. And Gillian Anderson is a woman.

One scene... And to be fair, much of the show is a mishmash of scenes from the books and movies.

Can someone catch me up a little? I don't exactly remember how last year ended but I was confused about Hannibal and Gillian on a plane even last season.

Why was the douche who danced with Gillian acting like such an arse to Hannibal in front of everyone at that party, he lost the job to Hannibal or something else? And wouldn't people know what Dr Fell looked like?

Why was Gillian so nervous looking at the table, was she worried about the food or Hannibal killing Dimmond? Did they have some sort of plan and Hannibal figured it out and that's why he killed him later or was it just because Dimmond knew about Dr Fell and was gonna blackmail him? I guess I don't understand why is she there at all if she's scared of Hannibal? Hannibal had to get out of dodge after last season anyway, she could have stayed in the states instead right? shite, she could've shot him as we see in this episode.

Who was the guy with her arm down his throat? That was a flashback and this is why she "owes" Hannibal and is with him?

Sorry for all the questions, but this ep confused the frick out of me

She is in a fricked up place right now. Constant state of paranoia. Did you hear the comment that was made about feeding animals the exact thing she was eating to enhance their flavor.

I gathered that he thought that he Hannibal/Fell was not worthy of the job and that he was.

One would think. This irked me a bit, but there are a lot of suspensions of disbelief in this show.

Hannibal killing

My only guess is that a) she still owes him and b) she has an insane level of intellectual curiousity about him.

This was an extremely confusing episode I agree. They stopped to explain absolutely nothing (which is something that I love, actually), and sometimes I could not follow what the hell was being said. Mads accent seemed thicker than usual to me.

Still love the show and liked the episode, and am looking forward to being back to Will Graham.

Hannibal killed Fell in France and then fled to Florence, so they had probably never seen the real Fell in person.

I think Bedelia feels a commonality with Hannibal, like two lost souls that are lost in a dark world - a dark world that she wants to see but is unprepared. At dinner, she was shaking with nervous anticipation - part anxiety, part excitement, maybe part arousal. As her line of dialoge about her taste would indicate.

She's clearly uncomfortable and in a state of panic. For second, I thought she might kill herself [Gillian Anderson does have other projects]. But then I realized that wouldn't make much sense.

Overall, this was a beautiful premiere. I'll probably rewatch S2 finale & this episode again.

It was definitely the type of episode that you had to pay very close attention to. Basically, Hannibal & Bedelia have taken the identity of a wealthy Florence couple. Hannibal is clearly all in on doing as much damage as he possibly can. While Bedelia is still apprehensive of his behavior.

This episode seemed like an awaking to me. Bedelia for a certain part of the episode had the feeling that she was in charge. Hannibal quickly made her realize who is actually in power.

Judt like with GoT, i use closed captioning when watching due to accents. It cleats up a lot.
