i loved the movie but i don't think mel gibson is why it's overlooked. it was almost like watching a documentary on life in the jungle. the subject matter and extreme violence probably doesn't appeal to most.

Not sure it's the greatest of all time, but it's a great movie. I got the Blue Ray for Christmas. Its hard to imagine that the chariot race was shot before the creation of CGI. How in the hell did they do that?

Godfather is the most overrated movie ever. Moreso than 2001.

It's a violent, fairly simple chase movie. It's very good but not enough meat on the bone to be amongst the greatest IMO.

Of course my favorite is 300 so I don't personally need complexity or subtlety.
