I actually own it. I'm a big Gibson fan and my mom got it for me years ago. I was impressed she managed to make the connection.

Sadly, I have never been able to finish it even after repeated tries and a stiff drink to keep me too mellow to do anything except sit there. So, yeah, that's an excellent suggestion.

World War Z was a real let down.

Recently I just watched Seventh Son. The books are really good and with Jeff Bridges I thought he could carry it. Just a really below average movie.

Also
I watched Narnia today, 1st one Lion, Witch, Wardrobe it's still excellent. Gonna watch Prince Caspian tomorrow, that one is awesome as well. It goes downhill from there.

The Following too much lame arse Bacon as a 'badass' which he isn't and not enough Joe Carroll.

The Strain, too much lame arse shock horror and just absolutely bad acting from almost the entire cast. Not enough badass Nazi Vampires.

The Matrix

They turned one of the greatest science fiction ideas ever into an average hollywood film.

Troy. Best writer in history gave you a script. All they had to do was follow it. Achilles helps Trojans, no arrow in heel, no gods, no ten year war?

The Firm. Great ending set up in book and totally ignored. Was a joke.

Set in a world with memory implants, Robin Williams plays a cutter, someone with the power of final edit over people's recorded histories. His latest assignment is one that puts him in danger.

Concept: Some people are implanted at birth with a means of recording their entire lives through their eyes and ears. When they die, the "cutter" collects and edits a lifetime of video into a "final cut" so that family and friends of the deceased can have a viewing.

Got really slow at times and had the shittiest of endings. This is something that M. Night Shamalamadingdong would have crushed (in his earlier years, at least).

How is it not?

You've got one of the most recognizable characters of all time, epic adventures, mystical worlds, a villain that everybody loves to hate, and twinge of nostalgia. It could make good, solid, fun movie. Just because the source material is a video game as opposed to a book or TV series like some of the other most excellent posts doesn't make it any less of a "great" of a concept.
