Daggers are great for inside fighting or close quarters, but a Bastard sword is probably the best sword you can wield on the field of battle.

I think Mel at least lives long enough for them to take Winterfell. I think her vision of herself walking on the ramparts was a true one. (wish I could remember more of the details of it -can't recall if she saw banners flying and if so what kind).
After that, all bets are off. Though I would kind of see her and Thoros meet up again.

i suppose you are right. i see it going down like this:
Jon tells Ramsey, "Let's do 1 on 1".
Ramsey is all like, "Aight."
But then when they walk back to their lines before doing the single combat, Ramsey tells his men to immediately kill Rickon and charge if he falls.
Jon and Ramsey square off. Ramsey immediately lunges in like a mad man and in 0.0222 seconds (the math was already done on this earlier in the thread) is beheaded by one swing of Longclaw from jon. Jon, thinking the day is won, allows himself to enjoy a bit of relief for the remainder of that second.
Then dead-Ramsey's men reveal rickon. Kill him right there for everyone to watch. Then they charge and do the battle anyway.
I know nothing. It is known.
