So I just did a rewatch and I wanted to note a couple of things that myself and others were wondering about.

Someone brought up that the dragonglass was all broken when Jon went to retrieve it. I think they are correct after rewatching the scene. I think that's why he didn't scoop it up.

Many of us were suspicious about the boat rower. We do get a very quick shot of his face when Jon jumps on the boat. I think Jon even put his hand on his shoulder like he knew him. All of the other boats had a similar covered up person manning the back or front end of the boat. Sometimes there were two on a boat. I almost think these were not actors but maybe safety ppl or stunt men boat drivers. could they be trying to cover up trolling motors on the back of the boat? Are they sporting life vests under their robes for everyone on the boat? Maybe.

Someone asked if the Thenn saw a big white ice spider when he first looked through the gate hole. I didn't notice anything at first, I thought it was wind swirling. But after the rewatch, i think there really was a many legged white creature scurrying across before the wights got to the gate.

I just watched it four times, twice in slo-mo, twice in real time...maybe your picture is more HD than mine, but I'm pretty sure there is zero percent chance you could see a huge spider in that scene.

People read way to much of this. It was likely something like this or they wanted to downplay the extras screen time as much as possible

I noticed that also, my thoughts he is a member of the Night's Watch.

Which one? & Is he important? No book reader could give definite answer, best possible scenario he is Jon Snow's uncle.

That was fricking awesome. Definitely the WTF I've been waiting on.

The Tyrion/Dany interplay was instantly compelling.

SMH at so many pages of reader/hodor bullshite. Truly the definition of motherfrickers that need to get a life (the ones who pull the bullshite).

Why would he sneak back onto the wall? He could just walk back in there and be welcome with open arms

This is what I initially thought when I posted about it, but no one else seems to think it was broken. The below quote pretty much confirms it was broken for me, though.

The glass is the most useful in arrowheads or daggers when there is an opportunity to stab the Other, in my opinion of course.

The Walker that Jon killed was Benjen, kidding

That's more plausible, though.

I think Jon would have a bigger reaction if he saw Benjen alive.

How far south has winter reached in the books? I ask because there was a season preview showing the throne room "winterized."

I have no clue, I haven't read the books

From the sound of it, it hasn't gone that far south though.

Well I have a very crackpot theory, but that preview throws a wrench in it.

I thought that was either Dany's or Bran's dream, I took it symbolically.

Yeah, it was Bran's vision. The same one that showed a dragon shadow over King's Landing, but it was still summer in the dragon scene.

To answer your original question it was snowing in the Vale, so they (Alayne & Littlefinger) had to leave the Eyrie to travel to their winter quarters. Dany's vision of the Iron Throne has a similar vision.

I posted that no one is sure, but his reaction did seem out of place. If that person was someone of any importance who else would it be?

I will say this: that I think the show runners will show Benjen/confirm what happened to him, regardless of whether Martin tells us or not.

No way that could be Benjen. He's been missing forever and just shows up rowing a boat? Yeah, no.
