Where was he from? I think the northern free cities are whitish and the southern are arabish. The far southern are brown like benn plumm

Tyrosh, which is just across the Narrow Sea from Westeros, more in the southern part.

Helo posted this in the non-book reader thread and I thought it would create some interesting discussion in here:

quote:

Even though it is not unknown how conniving Baelish is, some jumped out at me after rewatching the previous episode I had not previously picked up. We all know Baelish is in it for the long game so no telling if this was done on purpose but knowing him it is a setup.

Note: these are just my theories.

After handing over the books of the realm to Tyrion after he becomes master of coin, the short scene where he is shocked to find how much the kingdom owes. I didn't pick up on it the first time I watched but the 2nd time I noticed he mentioned owing the Iron Bank of Braavos tens of millions and they if not repaid they will fund the crown's enemies because they always get their gold.

Now couple this with the claims to the throne and red ladies spell. I think the 3 named kings are toast but how are they toast? Does the Iron Bank play a part short term or long term?

If long term, does Baelish make a deal for them to fund him? Could that have possibly been his long term plan from the beginning to put the crown in a precarious position?

If they don't fund Baelish, who then? Daenerys, Stannis, Rob Stark (although I think he dies soon), Bolton, Mance? Or how about longer term and pick someone like Bran or Arya (she does have 2 connections to Braavos). I think the Bank will come into play at some point.

We will probably have at least some bit of clarity in the next 2 weeks but in between seasons 3-4 I will probably rewatch everything from the beginning again.

Tough to respond to this as a reader without giving confirmations or denials to any of the points made. I am trying to think of a good way to word things, but would rather err on the side of caution.

White Walker/Other: Another species entirely from humans. We don't know much about them, except they only live where its incredibly cold and typically the cold comes with them. The guy we saw last night was an Other.

Wights: Basically zombies. They were once living, then died, and then rose from the dead. They're basically mindless, although it appears they keep the memory of their living selves. Wights aren't necessarily all humans, since they can also be horses, bears, and numerous other animals.

A wight is a reanimated corpse. An other is the thing reanimating the corpses. The other is what Sam stabbed.

Others were others since day one?

Well, we don't know yet. As I said, the Others are shrouded in mystery. We guess they're from "The Lands of Always Winter", which is even more north than we've seen so far. It is uncharted even by the Night's Watch and the Wildings.

What is even more intriguing to me is why do the Others want babies? They obviously don't kill the humans for food so theres obviously an alternative reason. They also only take the male babies, correct?

well that was kind of my reason for my "do they age?" question. didn't know if they were to grow bigger and older and become soldiers.

Yea. I was wondering if walkers had to turn Wights or if they just reanimated if they died where winter had reached. We know wights can survive where winter has not totally set in hence the one Jon toasted at castle black.

The walkers make wights when they kill. This isn't in the books but it's my opinion that they have some way of turning the male babies to new walkers.

Well, Craster apparently made a deal with them for his male babies. Since Craster has 20 wives, and thus alot of potential baby boys, I don't think the Others objected to it. But I don't see any reason why they would not want the girls as well.
