It's funny that after episode 9 everyone was WTF OMG this is great and terrible at the same time. Then after Ep 10, the season sucked.

I can't? I haven't seen very many, or anyone, worry about a dip in quality for the show.

I get what you're saying. As a whole season 3 may have been more choppy and less fluid than the previous 2 seasons.

That said, it was still a good season and enough episodes had climactic endings that a non-climactic ending to episode 10 didn't bother me.

I do wish the creators would have decided on a different format than 10 episode seasons. We don't get to see some of the depth you mention.

I'm not a reader, though I've read the first book and a chunk of the second book, but I've heard through the grapevine that a lot of books 4 and 5 cover the same expanse of time, but focus on different aspects of the story. This season has me thinking that as the scope of the show gets wider and wider, its going to be harder and harder to have a tight narrative in a TV show.

Season 4 is going to be amazing.

Also I thought this season had great scenes and episodes. Episode 4, 5, 8, 9 stood out to me.

I understand everybody likes Danny. I do too.

But, Mhysa's entire storyline has become repetitive.

We get it. She shows up, everybody sees how hot she is and she tells them she wants their army. They say no, she shows the dragons, they freak out and eventually bow to the mother of dragons.
She frees the people, tells them they're free to go OR they can take door number two and join her clan. EVERYONE, with no exceptions, joins her.

The crowd surfing was new though, so I give them credit for that

I liked it until the crowd surfing. After that it got WAY too campy

Well for the record I wasn't saying "zomg this show/season is amazing" after Ep 9. In fact, in many ways the gore was over-the-top absurd as someone earlier in the thread already said. Sure, the "shock" was the point and it did the job. This season was by far the weakest of the 3. Contrarily, Boardwalk Empire's season 3 was the best of the 3 IMO. Meh, different strokes.

Funny, but I completely agree. I realize it most likely translates better in novel form but the Danny storyline is indeed getting stale. I mean are we going to see another 1, 2, 3 seasons before she even gets to Westeros? I sure as hell hope not.

Didn't someone in one of the GoT threads link an article that mentioned the producers got thin on money near the end of the season which was why Danny's takeover of the city was so shittily (yes, shittily) done? It's not beyond the realm of reason to think the show is getting uberexpensive and its overall quality could suffer. Because Danny's storyline has been getting stale, and quickly.

With this show, she could be boarding ships bound for Westeros in the first episode of season 4, or she could spend the next three seasons trying to get there.

Andy Greenwald, who loves the show, speculated that, and I believe he was more along the lines of glossed over or hurried. Not "shitty." Either way, no, I don't have that fear. I have enough faith in Weiss, Benioff, and Martin to keep it going. I never realized I was a "glass half full" kind of guy.

I'm not a book reader, so I don't have that perspective.
But, I think they could communicate to us that she's continuing to add to her clan without having to show us these huge set pieces every time. I'd actually like to see more conversational stuff with her, like we see with all the other characters. Everything with Danny this season was really "grand." There were some really interesting storylines that would have been nice to see more of.

With Martin's writing, I understand it doesn't necessarily mean anything going forward, but she had a hell of a run through this part of the books/season 3.
