Arya needs to get knocked out in the same episode that Robb and co. dies. Leave the viewer completely flabbergasted, pissed off and hopeless. Make them believe that all the "good guys" are dead. Then give her one single scene towards the end of the finale that shows her waking up and restore a fraction of hope in the viewer.

True.

I just don't want them to use the RW as 10. I know what it was like reading it and I'm afraid they'll legitimately lose viewers.

I think it would make for better television if they used it as a cliffhanger on the season finale. Particularly if they ended the season with arya getting hit by Sandor's axe

This would be a great ending to the season IMO. People would be so fricking pissed.

I think it would make for a better series if they used it for ten but like you said the risk of losing the nonreader audience is too high. I think they know this too, based off of the way they handled Ned's death, so I think they'll handle it much the same.

They're too smart to end it at 10.

Dude, the season will be so epic, they won't lose non readers. If they follow 3 seasons, and it ends on your cliffhanger, it will trump up more buzz. Your ending is perfect IMO.

ETA: and the payoff will be Joffrey and Tywin dying the next season. PERFECT

I think you're underestimating how pissed people are going to be. I've saw how hard some have taken another current HBO series that killed off just one popular main character. This is a few times that.

If I'm not reading on my eReader I'm throwing shite. And that's just reading it.

I think they will nail it. I have never been so excited for something. When I think how far away it is, I get so angry.

I'm not. I was furious reading that chapter. And then I thought Arya was dead. I literally threw the book down and didn't frick with it for a few days.

BUT, I kept reading. It would be the biggest WTF ending in TV history. I'm all for it.

And the non reader thread would be

They'll keep the die hards but if they give the impression of killing off every "good" character in one episode they run a high risk of losing those fringe viewers. Television shows are renewed and cancelled based on those fringe viewers.

I don't think they'll run that risk when they can put out a very high quality show without doing so nor do I think they should.

I want to see if they are able to pull off the direwolf head being sewn onto Robb's body.

I'm curious as to if they'll even show that. I certainly hope they do

The way Martin wrote the RW scene itself just creeped me the frick out thinking of Walder Frey dancing a jig or some shite.

Filch's chamber seemed quite small when Cat asked for passage across the Trident in GOT. They better have a massive banquet hall.

I also hope that they play Rains a few times in the show and stress it's significance to viewers so that when it's played at RW, all the viewers give each other looks of "omg"

I don't agree. I had never heard of GOT, was just checking out the movie board and saw the huge Season 1 thread a few months after it ended.

Didn't read past the original post with the snyopsis of the characters.

Watched season 1 in two days on the HBO Cox thing. I was so pissed Ned got killed. Guess what, I bought the series and read the first 4 books in about a month.

You aren't fringe if you are following a 3rd season. I think the last scene of the season Arya getting knocked out would cause so much buzz, that the 4th season opener would break records.

Rains of Castamere. Written when Tywin crushed the Reynes of Castamere. They sing it before battles to show that you don't cross the Lannisters (they sing it in the tavern with Bronn before Battle of Blackwater)

It was the signal to start the massacre at the Twins
