But Azor Ahai is said to have defeated them with the flaming sword, I thought the last hero was said to have never found the Others.

I think it's up in the air whether Azor Ahai, the Last Hero and The Prince That Was Promised all refer to the same person or whether they refer to real people at all or just legends/prophecies.
If I had to take a wild guess I'd say maybe Azor Ahai and The Prince That Was Promised are about the same person and The Last Hero maybe is someone different.

Pretty sure all those people are going to end up being the same person. The descriptions line up all too well. Think GRRM will try to make a point about religions using different interpretations of the same event

Hodor here but one that pays attention. Do you think word gets to Dany from Tyrion or the spider that Robert had a bastard (Gendry) and she sets out to find and kill him to not take a chance on his possible claim? Just spit balling here but that is a possible way that Gendry shows back up on the show.

I would think that even if she does find out about Gendry, she wouldn't be worried about it. I believe her position would be that the Baratheon claim is invalid and anyone who challenges that will be subject to dragon diplomacy.

I actually believe the opposite. If she wants diplomacy points she should offer Gendry Storm's End.

Gendry has absolutely zero training or experience at being lord of a castle/area. But he does seem to be pretty solid and screwed on right. Maybe if he had a top notch hand (I'm thinking someone like Davos) he could do it well.
I just have a sinking feeling that Gendry may be one of those characters that D&D use for "need a somewhat impactful death scene" fodder. Hope I'm wrong though.
