Jaime's out of the way, Kevan may be in cahoots with the HS, and Tommen is wrapped around Margaery's finger. Sounds like a perfect time to start setting up to take down Cersei.

We won't get the fight this week and maybe not even the challenge. I don't Cersei can do her letter to Jaime in the Riberlands in the show, but I think you get Cleganebowl around Ep. 9. I'm guessing they will save at least one episode to deal with the fallout.

I agree - because she did that before she was released and did the walk of atonement. I think she gave the letter to Kevan when he visited her in the "nice" cell after she partially confessed, he sent it and Jaime got it (ignored it). He was, sort of, on his way back from Riverrun when they encountered Brienne. They appear to be setting up that collision (just, apparently without LSH).

Cersei is more proactive in the books, as well. Kevan told her about Myrcella in Dorne (in the books, recall maimed, not killed at this point), but she was more concerned about Oakheart's death. A vacancy in the Kingsguard, she sent word to Qyburn to the effect "the time has come." (Ser Robert Strong/Frankenmountain).

I'm not 100% on those details, but that's my best memory.

Robert Strong has been much more active in the show. She has no need to turn to Jaime for protection.

but the main one has got to be Sandor, right?

i think macshane is in this episode so likely

If the show just pops the hound back out, it will be terrible writing. There have been almost no references to the hound or anything for several seasons, and then out of nowhere he just shows up? That would be terrible (although cool to see Clegane Bowl). However, with the way they have explicitly stated that the Mountain was revived/repaired(/improved?) by Qyburn, I wouldn't be surprised if he just showed up.

In the books it is completely different, but in the show it would seem like a weak plot device if bookreaders weren't already expecting it.

will we just be informed that Sandor is still alive and will be fighting for the HS?

I think this is most likely.

There's got to be some bigger twist to the Clegane bowl right?

Like the HS chooses the Mountain as his champion now that Tommen is aligned with the faith. And the Hound steps in to defend Cersei?

It just all seems a little too straightforward as of now.

You can't just "chose" someone to be your champion. They have to agree to it. And the moutain wouldn't fight for the faith

Nice. I wonder who truly has the mountain under their control, cersei or qyburn.

That takes away from the Clegane reborn as the Gravedigger thing. Sandor (in the books) is really tied up by his "rebirth" on the Quiet Isle.

Why would Qyburn align himself to the faith either? Cercei is literally his only ally in KL.

This makes no sense as in the books it is clear "The Hound" is dead and that Sandor Clegane is "reborn" in the militant faith of The Seven.

There is zero chance, in my mind, of Cersei and Qyburn's creation fighting against her interests.

I think that would be more of a Olenna/Margaery/Kevan threatens Qyburn into betraying Cersei.

Qyburn is the one with a 10 foot tall monster within his power. I don't think 2 old people and a little girl are scaring him into doing anything

I actually think it most likely going to be a straight up Cleganebowl. I don't think it is particularly outside of the realm of possibility that one of those three finds a way to flip Qyburn's loyalty. Each has a motive for wanting Cersei out of the picture.

I agree with this.

Are we to believe that, although he has taken of vow of silence and devotion to the Seven, this vow does not prevent him from being a champion of the faith in a trial by combat?
