So what are the possible explanations for the title:

While there was another gift mentioned (LF's gift to TQOT), and other gifts alluded to (the Sand Slut's antidote), I think Tyrion himself answered the question to what the gift was that the title of the episode alluded to when he said "I am the gift. It's a pleasure to meet you my Grace. My name is Tyrion Lannister." I have to admit, that was an awesome scene. Jorah getting dragged away, and then Tyrion waltzes out there all cool and on point, and then the look on Dany's face was awesome. Just a great scene imo.

Not only was it a gift in the show, but it was also a gift to the viewers (both Hodors and readers) by D&D. This is definitely one of the changes from the book that I love. It'll be awesome to watch Tyrion work Dany over to becoming her most trusted adviser (and hopefully, on day, Hand to the Queen). I hope he stays with her, and doesn't end up with the Second Sons by the end of the season (which I guess could happen since Stannis is attempting to buy their services).

ETA: And I have a sneaky suspicion that LF's gift to TQOT was Tommen (not Lancel). I have a feeling that he knew the High Sparrow was about to take Cersei, and once he did then the only place that Tommen could then turn would be TQOT. Now she'll be able to turn him to the Tyrell's side while Cersei us locked up.

So does Dany have any idea who Tyrion is? Or does she just know the name Lannister?

We're still waiting for the 'wheel' monologue from the trailers, correct?

I'm sure she does. I mean, while I don't think they haven't had a scene on the show where some actually told her, it would be pretty goofy for a person who dreams of ruling Westeros not to know the names of the heads of the ruling house.

Yep. I just went back and rewatched that trailer, and there is an interesting "spoiler" scene that the 1:17 mark. As book readers we should be expecting it, but I thought it was interesting at who was with Dany in that scene (and who wasn't). Here is a link to that trailer: LINK

Interesting little spoiler at the 1:17 mark.

Let me guess, the fallen knight saves the day.

Also it was convenient of Mellisandre to leave out Baylon Greyjoy in her speech to Stannis about how well kings blood worked

I'm guessing that Drogon will be the one saving the day there. I just wonder where Tyrion is at that point (since he isn't in that scene).

I thought it was going to be about Jon and Arya's gifts.

I hope the HS knew the whole time about Cersei and Lancel and just played her until the time was right.

prplhze, thanks for posting that trailer, it's good to look back at those during the season. Interestingly, I see Jorah, Grey Worm, Missandei and Daario with her in that scene, but not Tyrion; wonder where he is. Also, interstingly, no Hizdar. I'm guessing that they are in the center of the pit as part of the marriage stuff, he signals the Sons of the Harpy and he is now on the outside of that circle with them attacking Dany and her little circle. That would have been cooler with Barristan involved, so I still believe that the decision to off him the way they did was pretty stupid.

Can see where it's going. They're surrounded, all seems hopeless, and Drogon drops into the middle of that circle and torches Hizdar and the Harpies (sounds like a band). But that's one more example of how the gross departure from the books is like telling a lie. The story is intricately woven and when you leave out pieces, it removes the motive for other pieces that are integral to the story. In the books, at that point, Dany rides off on Drogon and they think that she may be dead. However, in the books, there's a pressing need for her to go back because the battle of Merreen is looming. Unless the slavers from Volantis are planning to attack, if she has fried the wise masters, then what's left? Maybe they end the show with, "Good boy Drogon. Well, that's done; let's go home to Westeros!"

I would assume that Selmey would have tutored her on at least an overview of the main members of the great houses of Westeros. I'm not sure what his feelings on Tyrion were though.

One question I have is does she know anything at all about Vary's plans to help her? You'd think if he were really intent on helping her gain the throne, he'd have attempted at least some kind of contact with her. Do ravens not exist in Essos? Or messengers via fast ships or relays of horse riders?

Nevermind, didn't recognize Daario at first in the image, though they do keep changing the actor.

Anybody else choose to view the large guy who freed Tyrion to run into the practice pit as Large Belwas.

I know he didn't really fit the description and I think GRRM has been quoted as saying somewhere that he was not included in or cut from the show. But pretty much just because I want it to be so I'm going take that as D & D's "gift" to me.

You'd think they would have included Strong Belwas since he was such a fan favorite and would make a good TV character.

I'm still holding a glimmer of hope for a possible #CleganeBowl to close this season out.
