I do too, which kinda sucks, but I like being a Hodor a little bit.

My friends have told me to stop saying "that's not what happened in the book".

I'm not allowed anymore

Well, Beric is supposed to be dead by now, but there's no UnCat, so who the hell knows. Gendry is still out on the rowboat somewhere, but I think the show has just lost interest in him. I guess that makes sense. We haven't heard from Edrick Storm since he sailed away.

Right and that's what always picks at me. I understand if they change from the books, that's actually ok with me.

When they have stuff happen in the show they should keep on referring to it, or explain in the show, what happened to/with those characters.

I'm pretty sure D&D are going to have the show end with a similar conclusion as GRRM has planned for the book, but some of the paths to get to that conclusion will be different. As an example, it doesn't look like the show will have Aegon, so if they end up not introducing him at all in the show then it tells me that while Aegon will play a roll in the path to the end game, he won't be part of the end game himself in the books.

I think this is part of why *some* book readers lose their shite when there are changes. Years of theories only to find out a lot of it isn't really going to matter.

Right!

I never lose it by watching the show. I do find it strange when it's something I thought was "major", but it's ok.

The thing I always wonder is if GRRM changes the way he writes things because of what the show puts out.

Does he change the story based on what they put out? I would hope not, but who knows

You think he's going to row all the way to Braavos?

Pretty fricking far.

I mean, I guess he could get saved by sailors or something, but he sure as hell isn't rowing there.

I think GRRM could use some help bottling up the shite salad of storylines. I almost hope the show does influence him. It really couldn't hurt much at this point.

There have been theories for the books; I think we will definitely see it play a part in the show.

I always thought it had to do with melisandre awakening a stone dragon.

Part of me was waiting for him or her to call the doll by its name, Patchface.

I know. I liked how in the book there were people with some sort of prophetic powers from different religions - Patchface, Mel, Maggie the Frog, the old lady on the island, etc. That always seemed important to me somehow - like as magic came back into the world the different religions and cults each had a boost in power.

So far in the show I think we've only really had Mel and the foundations of Maggie the Frog.

Not sure how Bran and the 3 eyed crow fit into all of this but we won't see him this season on the show so I guess that's kind of moot for now.

Would have been epic to see him drop a deuce after killing Meereen's champion. But at least we got more Daario!

I knew they'd turn the Sparrows into an anti-gay Gestapo. It's classic HBO. I could see it happening when I was reading the books

You nailed it. I was thinking the same thing while watching it. I have a feeling the shows going to start to go down hill from here. We will start getting more little preachy things like this from HBO.

Girl power and homos have been a running theme from the beginning. Having watched 4 seasons before reading the books, that's the difference that stood out the most.

Also, the death of Barristan seems to suggest that they feel the need to kill off major characters because that's what the show is known for. HBO announcing a finite number of seasons was encouraging to hear, but I'm definitely starting to get a Xena: Lesbian Princess vibe from the show.

No, I think he's a dumbass and isn't going to follow Davos' instructions. He'll get caught up in a easterly current and land not where he is supposed to land. His BFF is in Braavos. I think that's where he lands. I think they will run into each other and eventually join up with Dany.

This morning I opened up the Hodor thread on this episode to see what they were talking about.(I would never post anything in there of course). First time I do that this season. Man, that place is the same dumpster fire that it's always been.

Well considering GRRM is an ultra-flaming liberal (like, 10x more liberal than HBO execs could ever hope to be), I'm pretty surprised he didn't make it more overt in the books. I'm sure he approves.

Well if he does follow Davos' instructions and "sticks to the coastline," he'll just be circling the island forever.

Maybe that's where he's been all this time.
