To the haters hoping the series goes away, that's not happening any time soon

Glad to see it doing well, they are great Sunday matinee popcorn flicks to me.

Phew! For a moment there, I thought Hollywood would be shutting down production of all mass marketed action films.

I just don't hate it. It's just predictable.

-everybody doing their thing at beginning
-there's an opportunity to cash in for a job
-there's an external threat
-a bunch if over the top racing scenes
-some fighting
-sone funny lines
-good guys win and every body is happy and bonding

And that's why these movies are great!

I believe as well that people who haven't followed the franchise at all are curious about PW's last movie and want to see how it unfolds.

I never understand the lure of these movies. I saw the first one in theaters, hated it, and never saw any of the sequels. Is it because I couldn't give two shits about cars?

Starting with the fourth one, they made an entire shift in tone and direction. They're full blown action movies now.

They're not really "car racing" movies anymore, though (I guess as a shoutout to their "roots") each movie has an obligatory racing scene.

If you're not into cars, there's not really much reason to like these movies. So it's understandable that you don't like them. Different strokes and what not.

It didn't make that much money because it's some great movie. It's because of all the hype it's gotten since Paul Walker died. Me and 95% of the rest of America had no idea who he was before he died, but if you die young and famous you're suddenly a legend so seeing this movie has suddenly become the trendy thing to do to see Paul Walkers last movie. If he hadn't died this movie would be a punchline for overextended crappy movie series and that's just what will happen if they make #8

I feel like after some of those crashes they'd get so injured they'd need a walker.

Paul Walker was a pretty recognizable and successful actor before his death.

95% of Americans, you are trying way to hard to be cool.

From the first movie anyway. Just my opinion. If you weren't into the car scene, I could see it being hard to get into the movie.

I would have recognized his face, but had to think about where id seen him. If you just said his name most people would have said "who the frick is Paul Walker"

Die hard fast and furious fans are a pretty selective class of people

What's your excuse for the massive success of #6?
