I've been having Amores Perros on my DVR for a month or two. I'm hoping to get a chance to watch it tonight.

I myself was just limiting it to foreign language films, since there are so many good English-language foreign flicks.

My bad...and right you are

You would love District B-13.

It's also got that French kid that was in all of those "free running" videos on Youtube, hopping off of buildings.

I can't believe the French films "The City of Lost Children" and "Amelie" were not mentioned. Beautiful colors and clever plot lines.

I am struggling to remember the names of 2 great movies I saw a while back, one french about some Algerian immigrants and another one was Turkish about Greece-Turkish transients.

Cache involves that theme.

Fratricide involves Kurds living in Germany.

I actually saw this before I saw Vanilla Sky. I liked Vanilla Sky better, but it's still good. Cruz is in both films

Most Spaniards contend that the original is better, but consider the source... In any case, I'd still like to check it out.

Good one.

I always enjoyed Brotherhood of the Wolf. I felt they could've done a little more with it, but it was still a good movie.

I'm going to let you guys take this one, I could go on for about ten pages with my knowledge of this topic. I'll just add one I don't think I've seen yet.

In the mood for love

Oh, and "Bande a part" is amazing as well of ones not yet mentioned.

Ran (Kurosawa's version of King Lear)

Come and See (Russian...and probably the most psychologically brutal war movie ever made, no joke)

Aguirre, The Wrath of God (Klaus Kinski is batshit crazy and throws monkeys and Herzog is an insane genius)

Stalker (Russian science fiction flick, definately not for everyone but quite hypnotic)

Stroszek (Herzog again....a movie about what happens when the American Dream goes wrong)

Le Cercle Rouge (French crime flick....awesome)

The Conformist is a damn good film. I also recommend The Passenger. It's not a foreign language film but is directed by Antonioni and I don't think it is too well known in the US.
