Pretty much as expected. Good but very familiar to every other Tarantino movie.

I'll see it, and will enjoy it. But I agree with y'all...it does not really stand out from his other stuff IMO.

Read the script when it leaked a few years ago, was a huge Tarantino fan at the time. Not impressed with this one. It's a cross between Reservoir Dogs and Django Unchained with what some will call a pretty graphic rape depiction. (or at least such was the case in the draft of the script that I read.) Will not watch.

Quentin was on Howard today. For this film his plan was to write a script, then follow it up with two more drafts to see where the story went. He normally only does one draft and then just tinkers a bit with it.

After he finished the first draft he sent it out to 12 people (sounded like mostly actors) to get their feedback...Sam L Jackson was one of them...and told them not to share it with anyone. In his opinion, one of the actors probably shared it with an agent or someone and they posted it online. It crushed him, especially because this was something he was trying to do differently this time.

Long story short, after awhile he got over it and wrote the other two versions. The movie will not be the same as the leaked script...although I have no idea if it's 5% different or 90% different.

This isn't an endorsement for the film. I really liked his earlier stuff (Dogs, Pulp Fiction, ect). His later stuff is still decent but not my favorites.

I'll watch it and like it, but like y'all said...it doesn't really stand out from the ads I've watched.

It will be a fun movie and likely a lot better than most movies out there. It's just that Tarantino's style has started to become pretty well worn. He would need to try something drastically different to really get people's attention and make an interesting movie.

Sad but true. I think it also has to do with Samuel Jackson's tired yelling schtick. Enough already.

I'll pass. Tarantino hasn't made a good movie in almost 20 years. Kill bill and all the others just aren't that great. Jackie brown was his last good film.

Inglorious Basterds was the best movie of Tarantino's career. Django was a bit cartoonish, but still an enjoyable movie. And I love Tarantino's visual style, dialogue, and ability to give every character a well-rounded point of view. The scene in Django with Sam Jackson going from subservient houseslave to the mastermind swirling his brandy was bone chilling.

Throw in Kurt Russell in a majestic mustache, Jennifer Jason Leigh given anything to do for the first time in a decade, and themes so liberally borrowed from The thing he's even using the discarded score from the film (before Carpenter decided to use the electronic version) and I'm so f'n in.

Tarantino is about the only filmmaker we have today who would be comfortable working in the 1970's auteur era. He's actually cinematic.

Kill Bill was boring as hell unless you just like movies without stories and mindless action.

Even the dialogue in Kill Bill was weak. It was just pure Kung Fu 80's junk...which I guess was his "homage" aim.

He said he would live off of Pulp Fiction for the rest of his life in his Oscar speech.

I guess he has.

I'm just wondering how a movie about people hanging out in a shelter during a blizzard will work for 3 hours.

That said, I like QT's films and I'm excited to see this one. But I have my expectations lowered just a bit.

If you're not excited by a three-hour version of The Thing, I don't know what else to tell you. Because that sounds f'n AWESOME to me.

As others have said, IB is his best film. So...
