Beautiful is definitely a solid word to describe it. Great scene.

Absolutely. Every good person has some bad in them, and every bad person has some good in them. And almost every major character went through that.
And Marlo's ending was just awesome. He was the kind of dude that couldn't just go legit (or at least semi legit). Instead, he had to take to the streets and prove his name was one to be feared. Like he said, "My name IS my name.." It didn't matter that he was avoiding jail and sitting on piles of cash as long as kids on the street didn't know who he was (or if Omar was bad talking him). And in the end, the streets is where he will always end up. It was completely fitting of his character and a perfect way to end his story.

the wire is arguably the greatest piece of art that america has produced in the last 100 years, better than any other movie or tv show by far, and up there with some of the greatest books ever written.

he was too caught up in making sure everyone knew he ran the corners
That was his fatal flaw and kept him from being the perfect, untouchable gangster.
marlo is unique in that everyone else (stringer, avon, etc) was in the game to make money, and cash was the ultimate goal. marlo was only concerned with power, and the final scene showed that he wasn't satisfied with retiring with more money than he would ever need, it was all about the power and respect.

BTW am I dumb for not knowing she was a girl until Michael said "you look good girl"?

Marlo, in a nutshell.

Yeah, she's a dyke.
When the Bunk pulled Chris and Snoop over Bunk said something like "oh I'm just looking for some pussy". Snoop said "me too".
My favorite Snoop moment: LINK

snoop became one of my favorites with that scene alone. Easily one of the funniest scenes in the series
she brought a lot of comedy to her scenes
"you aint let me get the man in the house" after Michael's dad got beat down
And the Drive by scene in season 4
the most under rated part of the show is the memorable quotes

Dang I hate when I miss the beginning of a thread. Would likemtomchime in on my thoughts.
Snoop - I'm sure her backstory has been discussed here, but damn she was a real life gangsta. Crazy how she adapted to the screen.
Stringer - my favorite. Absolutely hated his timeline in the series. I read an article about when he found out about his character's future shortly before shooting. The writer said something to him to the effect that "this role and character will reward you 10x in your professional future"
The realism was unreal. So "in your face" and harsh at times. I agree that it was sometimes hard to binge.
Wasn't the biggest fan of the media POV.
Love seeing the actors in subsequent shows/movies. Like Chris in 24 now

Aidan Gill plays virtually the same role in GoT as he did in The Wire.

thing about the Wire is nothing gets solved and new people fill old roles. We keep repeating mistakes. Carcetti becomes like every other mayor. Sydnor becomes McNulty. Dukie becomes Bubbles. And so on. It's just sad.
B.I.N.G.O-Michael becomes Omar, Namond becomes Bunny, etc

I actually enjoyed the kid/school viewpoint. Before I got to that season, I was asking myself "how do these corner boys get to this point?" TW clearly communicated exactly how the innocent kid transforms into a corner boy / street soldier / dope fein. Essentially, 1 in 4 has a small chance of making it out of the game alive. Really gets to me as a parent.
