I do like how they took the 'greeks' from s2 and included them in the rest of the show

like a punk bitch because he never saw it coming. just so unexpected and a huge WTF moment
I also found it funny how the story of how Omar died instantly turned into a urban legend.

I liked Michael's journey as well. Went from being a good kid who didn't want to associate himself with "the street game," to basically turning into the next Omar Little. I remember saying in my old thread that the scene where Michael shoots Snoop is actually kinda beautiful in a weird way.

I'm going to give Season 5 another watch...I thought it was a travesty the first two times I went through the series. Maybe I missed something.

Yea I had the feeling they would escape unscathed. At least the two top guys. They seemed way too above the law. They had fbi working with them. And if they were gonna be close to getting had, they would have had marlo or some of the black guys take the fall.
Yea that little punk that killed Omar sucked.
I do like knowing that Marlo is either dead or in jail because of that last scene

I don't know if "beautiful" is the right word - I saw it coming and knew only one would walk away - that final, personal connection at the end let both of them acknowledge that it was not personal - just business.
Heck, "beautiful" is just as good a word as any - one of the best scenes of the entire series.

it always bothered me that Marlo basically got off with all the shite he did.

Yea it did until I saw him go up to the corner at the end of the last episode. That was the end for him. The police deal with the lawyer will kinda seal his fate.
All happened because his higher ups told him that Omar was calling him a bitch in the streets

I'll also add, I disliked Bubbles, never got the love for him. Wished he would've OD'd...

They did but the deal with the lawyer was that if he goes back out on the street and does anything remotely close to dealing like before, all the shite they had on him, whether it was illegally obtained or not, was going to be used in court.

he's a guy i can see running things from the side like Prop Joe

That last scene shows that he is the complete opposite. He wants everyone to know he is in charge and his name to be feared on the streets. He stood off to the side before they all went down because everyone already knew not to mess with Marlo
He went up to that corner and the guys told him to frick off because they didnt even know who he was. He would have to go back to his old ways to get the respect again. They mentioned cycles of drug dealers in the area and Marlo had run his course and had the chance to get out with cash and no jail. He doesnt want that

Yea that was the thing that made the lawyer stress to him to take the deal. He was leaving with no jail time, no snitching, and a boatload of cash.

Marlo was the type that had the business sense. But, he was too caught up in making sure everyone knew he ran the corners. Pure stupidity imo.

That was his fatal flaw and kept him from being the perfect, untouchable gangster.

It's funny, Mrs. Baloo and I just started a rewatch of the series. I think what I like most is not a character per se, other than Bubbles who is the greatest character in the history of television, is the arcs on each of the characters.
Carver starts as comic relief and frankly, a terrible cop. By the end, he is one of the moral centers of the show and one of the few people who gives a damn. The scene after seeing Randy in the home is one of my favorites in the series. Herc goes the opposite way, and ends up being Levy's lackey because, hey, the money is good.
Bodie starts as a guy you hate. He's the foil to D, he beats Johnny severely, and he kills Wallace. But by S5, he's grown into a weary soldier who realizes the game is rigged. He's not sorry, but he at least earns respect from me for living up to the Code.
But the saddest thing about the Wire is nothing gets solved and new people fill old roles. We keep repeating mistakes. Carcetti becomes like every other mayor. Sydnor becomes McNulty. Dukie becomes Bubbles. And so on. It's just sad.
However, I do love that Marlo gets the deal that Stringer would've loved. Stringer wanted to be legit, and he gets pulled down into violence. Marlo gets legit, but he wants his name to be his name. He can't "retire".
