Couldn't care less about his personal preferences, and I understand that some wouldn't accept reality has fast as others and try to remain as optimistic as possible... but there is only so much of a naive character I can take, especially when everything is right in his face.
Glad to see the military, always interested in what they're doing in zombie movies / shows, but you rarely get to see.
Except in TWD, when a bunch of random guys crushed about a dozen or show military personnel to which the show made it plausible by making them Guardsmen.

I enjoying this show way more than i thought. The prequel aspect works for this genre.

OK - the army guys show up, kill one Asian zombie, ask a few questions, buy the "my dog died" line, don't check the trash cans with the bloody blankets, and take off? Ok.

How did they know to shoot the infected Asian lady? And a headshot too. Just in the nick of time. Bet the husband who got blood splattered was terminated too.

I think it was in the premier of TWD, but they showed a bunch of bodies wrapped in sheets and blood soaking through the head region. There was also an episode with a flashback (cant remember if it was season 1 or 2) where Shane sees soldiers shooting the living indiscriminately. Also we know that they bombed atlanta in a last ditch effort to control the outbreak.

So I always wonder how the military itself gets taken down. My guess is that as it becomes more uncontrollable, soldiers start abandoning their post to go check on their own families. The only other thing I could guess is that people start fighting back against Martial Law and even that wouldn't necessarily bring down the whole military.

By the responses from that one soldier they seem to have a good idea what is going on. He said she wasn't alive (zombie) and they knew to do headshots. Even indicated the blood was infected, though they are slightly wrong in this area, still, they are being cautious.
I'm actually wondering how it got so bad so fast since they know some of these things. Of course, widespread rioting will lead to some deaths.
