Jesus Christ dude. Between people like this in the Walking Dead threads and Blueboy in the Star Wars threads, I'm just amazed. I had no idea people would get so riled up over this. It's ridiculous.

I am more pissed that they killed off one of the three best characters in the pilot. Tobias, the principle, and the herein dealer. shite the heroin dealer out acted and out shined the stupid arse son character by a mile. They should've changed direction after that scene, killed the heroin addict, had the family adopt the dealer, and have him struggle with covering up his relationship with the son and his death. That would've been aweosme.

I'm not sure many people were riled up about it, except for you. But it was definitely something I noticed last night.

You're the one all riled up about them killing off a pretty terribly-acted drug dealer kid whose character is ultimately meaningless outside of a few minutes of screen time.

The daughter needs a love interest now, he would have worked. Plus he would have to struggle with his 2 faced lifestyle, you know hed be wanting to take advantage of the situation. Could have been a redemption story. We could have seen how he really was just a good kid deep down.

Late to the party here, but thought it was great.

The beginning was unexpected, didn't think we'd get such a tense start. Reminded me a lot of Rick in the stairwell with the matches in S1E1 of TWD.

Really dug the music, and I'm hoping that's available somewhere. Would love to play that in my yard haunt on Halloween.

Really liked the multiple times they would pan up from a scene to show the LA skyline. Great foreshadowing into "look how bad it's going to get with all of these people around."

Def. seemed short sighted to kill the dealer that quickly. He seemed solid.

No point in that scene with the family if you're just going to kill him in the next scene right?

It wouldn't have been a big deal if they had chosen a white or latino actor for the "step dad", it's Los Angeles so it doesn't really seem like it'd be out of the ordinary. But they went with a New Zealander. How the hell are all of these foreigners so good at American accents? I'd have never known he was a kiwi if I hadn't looked him up, he looked a bit middle eastern to me.

Watched the pilot last night.

I enjoyed it, and I already like the actors better the tWD.

The only things that I scratched my head at are:

1. Calvin and Nick obviously have a history together as good friends, and the scene with Cal and Nick's folks implied that they perceived Cal as being in the "good crowd," and they acted as such.

So why would Cal just assume that Nick "ratted" to his parents about him? His parents were not suspecting of Cal during the scene, and were obviously just trying to see if he knew where he was because they were worried about him.

Their opinion of Cal was obviously a good one, yet he just knew that Nick said something to someone, so he immediately decides to murder him-someone that he has been friends with for what I am assuming was a long time. I get that drug dealers probably kill people upon assumptions often, but still it was kind of weird.

2. I thought that the step dad going to the sketchy church at night was somewhat stupid, but I can give that a pass because it looked like he just went there immediately after Nick told him about the zombs. And I see why he wouldn't contact the police in fear of getting Nick in trouble.

3. I thought it was dick for the mom to tell her daughter to hop on the bus with the rest of the kids, when her and dude "beat the crowd" in fear of getting "blocked in." What kind of mom leaves her daughter in a situation like that?!

Those are minor things that I really don't give a shite about, it just makes for good discussion.

This show will be badass, and I can't wait to see where it goes.

Just finished it. I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did.

The acting was quite good, especially the Stepfather.

The cinemetography was great. Gave this show a completely different feel from TWD.

Enjoyed the ease of at least this episode. Nice change of pace from the constant foreboding of TWD. You were able to breathe a bit in this one and actually get to know the characters. (Don't get me wrong, the constant tone of dread and uneasiness in TWD is part of what I love about it.)

I guess I was hoping to not like this, because it seemed silly to me to have a spinoff of a show that is still on the air...but dammit I'm in.

Wait. There's an "agenda" of mixed race relationships? That's being "pushed"? Is that a bad thing?

It seems that way if you have racist tendencies.

Same, it definitely had me engaged from the start.

I kept expecting the patient in the room with Nick to die and turn... guess it might have happened off-camera, but I was really thinking that was going to be the catalyst, not Calvin.

it is going to be very interesting to see how they handle the epic bloom of the virus.

upon re-watch, I am hoping that they incorporate how the world is reacting in regards to social media. Maybe the viral video was a clue that they are.

it will also be interesting to see the regression from that type of instant communication and knowledge to basically a primitive state.

then there is the fact that they are in los angeles which has over 4 million folks in its metro. that is a lot of walkers.....

I think she just wanted the kid to go home and not to her BF's. The step dad probably didn't want to get blocked by the busses

Overall I wasn't a huge fan of the pilot. I'll give it a couple more episodes though
