Right because people's first instinct should be "Oh yeah this is a zombie, better decapitate him."

that and the diner scene between he and the dealer.

Is this guy gay and bangs his sister?

I did see the scene with his sister and think it had a little creepy vibe to it...but I think Nick is just super vulnerable and on edge. His friends and family know this and treat him as such.

BJL?

And whoever it was that said he's the bastard child of Johnny Depp and River Phoenix is spot on. Those pics in the thread are scarily similar.

The pilot episode for Fear the Walking Dead was much better than the original

I really enjoyed the pilot for FTWD, but this isn't even remotely true.

FTWD had a solid pilot. TWD had one of the best pilots, ever.

I don't see how people can think it was speed. It looked like heroin without a doubt.

Considering the mom said her son's drug of choice was heroin, anyone who thinks otherwise just wasn't paying attention

She was bitching about him the entire episode up to that point and treating him like a lost cause. I think it was supposed to be a sweet moment.

You know it's good. Undeserving..but great for them.

Would love to know what makes it "undeserving."

Companion show to a super popular show. Excellent trailers and marketing leading up to the premiere. A solid cast of unknowns and a new take on TWD universe, which is very intriguing.

I'd say they earned this high rating, and the premier of TWD in October will demolish this number.

I don't this is the case yet. It will be interesting to see how it gets to that point though.

It's pretty well known in TWD universe, and almost any zombie universe, that everyone on earth is infected with this virus and when they die, they become a zombie.

We won't be told ever how it occurs, though we can make educated guesses (like flu shots, or a chemical weapon gone wrong, or a man-made virus escaping a lab); but everyone in the world has the disease now, and it's about to pop off.

Haha. Exactly.

And Kirkman has said in interviews that movies like "Night of the Living Dead" do not exist in TWD universe, so people don't know what zombies are (which is kind of silly to me).

Who is BJL? I'll never understand this board's fixation with turning everything into an acronym. More one finger typers than elsewhere?

I've never understood this boards fixation on bitching before they read a few more posts.

BJL is a nickname for Kramapolice

This

I really dont understand the negative reaction to the scene in the diner.

The dealer was pissed his junkie childhood friend was causing him static, wasn't sure what the guy told the cops, and was worried the dude would cause a huge scene thus creating witnesses that could place the two together so he decided to comfort the dude to calm him down.

The dealer was likely plotting to kill him as soon as he realized how freaked out the guy was. He didn't want any loose strings that could lead back to him so he did what he could to calm the guy down so he could get him in the car and lead him out to a place where he could shoot him.

You can't just sit there berating a person that is all strung out of you want them to calm down and not cause a scene.

I feel like some people here have never had to deal with a friend or loved one that was seriously fricked up on drugs. When a person is that far gone they can say and do crazy things that don't make sense. Sometimes holding them is all you can do to stop them from freaking the frick out. It doesn't matter how mad you might be at them. If you want them to come back to reality you have to start off by easing their drug addled brain.

It’s so they don’t have to explain how these slow, stupid creatures with limited natural weapons and no sense of self-preservation overcame the planet’s smartest, most lethal predator. Based on what we’ve seen so far, I don’t see how they can tell that story successfully.

Pretty easy. Quantity. One, bites another then another. Humans morality and disbelief enables the virus to multiply so quickly.
1) man can not rationalize walking dead. They will try to explain it so many ways, and it will take time in order to come to terms with it.
2) Humanities need to help others. Humans, for the most part, look to aid those in need. So if you see someone with blood on their shirt stumbling towards you, you would go to help them. Then that person bites you. You don't know of the infection. So another helps you to heal. If it is a minor bite, you go back home. Your family tends to you. You turn, bite a family member. Rinse repeat.
If it's a severe bite, person goes to hospital. Dr.s work on him to help him. Victim dies, turns, attacks hospital workers. Other hospital workers try to help them...rinse repeat.

Humanity is why the virus spreads so quickly. Humanity and disbelief.

Sometimes you just have to ask yourself, "What Would Tuco Do?".

Next episode I believe shite will start kicking off. You have people dying and returning now. Lots of people die in major cities everyday for many reason. Those will get up and kill and so on. Nursing homes, hospitals, prisons, streets.

The panic has started, and right now Lori is probably bitching at Rick to talk more.

For the most part, not really, but I can see a little bit of that, now that you say it.

Also, I agree with whoever it was earlier in the thread that said that it feels like the show is trying to push the agenda of mixed race relationships a bit. I realize it's set in California, but the main character seems like he could be a little mixed, the mom is with a man of a different race, and the daughter is as well. And it's not even a big deal, but they do seem to be making that point pretty hard.

I'd love a glimpse into that hellhole of a marriage right about now in the timeline..
