Beverly Hillbillies. Jethro was one of the funniest characters in sitcom history.

Cannot believe nobody has mentioned Wings. I am a big Wings fan as well as Scrubs. If you can count Entourage as Sitcom, throw that in for me too.

I don't know if Always Sunny counts, but for what I know are sitcoms

Seinfeld, That 70's Show, Friends, How I Met Your Mother.

But I've been DVRing Barney Miller lately and laughing my arse off.

I think it should and is the correct answer to this question. The only reason I would refrain from placing it as the number one sitcom is because it is still producing new seasons/episodes so we have no way of knowing if the show tanks toward the end of its run. If that prevents something from being the best of all time, I guess I would go with Seinfeld. But I still like the first 5 seasons of always sunny better than anything else I've watched.

Glad to see the love for Barney Miller - very underrated show. Yemana and Deitrich always cracked me up. I too DVRd the shows on New year's Day on WGN.

Sanford & Son
MASH
All In The Family
Cheers
WKRP - all time favorite. I have all of the episodes recorded on VHS except for one. Watching the Thanksgiving giveaway episode is an annual Thanksgiving tradition at my house. Very very underrrated and had CBS left its time slot alone, would've had a better audience. They kept fricking with it.

Yep. CBS did everything it could to doom that show.
