Ralph Fiennes directed and starred in a modern adaptation of Coriolanus in 2011 that was absolutely stunning. It used to be on Netflix, don't know if it still is.

I also still love the circa 2000 film of Midsummers Night Dream with Kline, Bale, Pfeiffer, and about a million other names. Kline's Nick Bottom was perfect.

I've been wanting to watch Coriolanus, its still on Netflix instant.

If SOA is considered an adaption of Hamlet it's my favorite.

Kurosawa's "Ran" was a pretty damn good King Lear.

This one is pretty damn good, too.

I remember having to go watch this in HS.

I do not recall if it was good or not.

The Taming of the Shrew

1967

Richard Burton & Elizabeth Taylor at their peaks and this is the best.

Romeo and Juliet

1968

Olivia Hussey & Leonard Whiting, look for a very young Michael York in this movie; about 5 years becomes a major star in The Three Musketeers.

I gotta go with Zeffirelli's Hamlet with Mel Gibson. Also Othello with Branagh as Iago was perfect

I prefer his Othello, which has a really great Iago in Michel Michaelemoir (sp?!?)

Watched it last night, yeah he was a great Iago and of course Welles's directorial flair.

But I still think I prefer his Macbeth adaptation.

I don't think you can really beat Throne of Blood / Ran.

However, some other favorites of mine include Chimes at Midnight (Welles), Titus (Taymour, 1999), and Prospero's Books (Greenaway, 1991).
