For those that have seen the movie, what did you think of Grindelwald?

Probably my only complaint. I wouldn't have minded a little more development of Scamander either but everything else was great.

I didn't mind how they made him look if they at least at some point go into the change from the original series to that.

My real complaint with him was his line delivery. If you've seen the Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland, he gave the lines like he was the Mad Hatter giving the "why is a raven" joke. If he had asked if they thought they could really hold him in the voice when he started the uprising in the Queen's courtyard, it would have been 10x better.

Let me preface by saying I forgot all the character names

It was to obvious it was him. After the first scene they show his blonde hair cut and the the dude has same style just black... plus he was sketchy.

As for the reveal again kinda disappointed and was hoping it would have just been Someone assigned to a mission at grindewalds request. Still don't know how I feel about his look but do not mind Jonny depp at all

So we can assume dumbledores sister died because of the obscure or whatever.
So what did grindelwald want with one?

Also I like newt but is he the main character of this new series? It appears it will end with dumbledore and grindelwald fighting so what is newts role in the rest of the series? I like the bakery guy and want to see more of them but I don't see how they play apart in the grindelwald dumbledore war either. But I guess we will wait and see.

I agree for the most part. I didn't mind that being him per say, but it could have been revealed better. Giving the Deathly Hallows was a dead give away. I think Depp is a great choice, but it will depend on how they let him deliver the character (see my post above).

Yea, I think she was an obscuris, and that was what eventually killed her. That was a big schism between Grindelwald and Dumbledore. I believe Grindelwald wants to control that raw power. Him and Dumbledore were friends and constantly trying to find greater power (the teamed up to try and find the deathly hallows).

I believe they are the new band we will be following. I read that somewhere, but can't remember. I'm curious on what they hold because Grindelwald didn't have the Elder Wand at this time, which he should have. The big duel between Dumbledore and him is in like 1945 where Dumbledore wins the wand from him.

This movie looks stupid. I'm assuming anyone who sees this struggles with homosexuality.

Another thing I was a little upset with was how incompetent Goldstein was. I mean, our main vision of what an Auror is was Madeye. Her being an Auror kind of shits on the skill it took to be one.

Eh, I didn't mind it. I liked her character overall. I was surprised at how powerful Newt was. He was kicked out of Hogwarts, but yet he could apparate very quickly and use non-verbal spells with ease.

I didn't dislike her character, I thought she was great, just her having reached the classification of Auror.

That was a bit of a surprise. The fact that seemingly everyone could apparate with ease was a little strange.

I will say, the absolutely nailed the beasts. They were very unique, gorgeous to look at, and some great comic relief.

I like how newt used his animals, that bird thing is OP haha

I agree the chick seemed a little weak to be an auror, but she did hold her own in that 1v1 vs grindlewald even if just for a second.

She wasn't very much on the defensive the entire time. She definitely has skills, but she is just clumsy and a bit foolish. Two qualities I don't associate with aurors

Fleeting death or whatever it was called was badass. His use of beasts was great. He obviously wasn't a great duelist which they did a good job showing, but his skills to fight went beyond just the wand which is a cool trait to see in this world.

So, do we thing we are going to see Grindelwald get the elder wand in this series? Based on other timelines he should have it by now, which would mean that when Goldstein disarmed him, she would now be the owner of it.

Does the movie work as a stand-alone film? Or do you have to know the HP world to enjoy it? TIA.

I mean, have you seen any Harry Potter stuff, or do you know absolutely nothing about it?

yeah im confused, maybe when he escapes he will win it back? idk

Has there been anything to lead us to believe she will release more books?
haven't finished cured child but I wasn't a huge fan of that style.
maybe let someone write some books similar to HP but at the school in US?
idk I just love the universe and want more
