I never knew I wanted a scene with Goggins and Matt Berry shooting the shite, but this series delivered just that

The power armor looked good though aside from the way the helmet opened and the little arm jets instead of a jet pack

I read an article (which I currently can't find) that said that the production company was never told by Bethesda to "do the visuals like this". In fact, they had carte blanche to the point of beginning the physical models and versions of the Power Armor with nothing but the games to go on. There were 4 different practical effects versions of the suits, including one for the stunt men to wear, complete with articulating hands thau could grip for short periods of time. When you saw a gun in their hands, they were attached.

If they could find a way to shoe-horn Olyphant into an episode...

I'm sure it was a technical challenge to make the suits 100% game accurate but there's too much Ironman in it for me. I'm also still bothered by the lack of laser rifles for the Brotherhood and just in general on the show.

I’m sure we will get that and more world building in season 2 which should have a healthy beefed up budget for more effects. I’m sure they’ll want to expand the VFX with more creatures and weapons. I want to see Goggins with a Tommy gun and gunner attire. I also want to see someone use a fat man launcher.

Wonder who they will get to play Mr. House?

Robert Downey Jr. would be awesome but they probably can’t afford him

Maybe Jon Hamm or Josh Brolin?

I don't think it will be Mr House. The big reveal for season 2 has to be that Cooper's daughter is the big bad after her mother raised her the last 30 or 40 years. He will probably have to kill his ex-wife and is stuck with he choice of dealing with his daughter. He loves his daughter and has stayed alive 200 years to find her versus she stands against everything he believes in now. It is in the games already.

I finished up the show last night and thought it was pretty wonderful. Can't believe I am saying this, I agree with the guy a page or two back about the gratuitous tits in the cult scene. I didn't mind the wedding night scene but everyone stripping in the cult scene bugged me because he it really didn't fit the story at that time.

The visuals to this show were amazing to look at. It replicated the games and how I envisioned stuff so closely. I am curious how much of a fan of the games the show producers were (from the effects department to the show runners).

Goggins is a gem. He seems to be able to take all of his roles and make them his and create a fantastic version of them.

The main character, Lucy, was much better than I thought she would be. I was worried the first couple episodes and she really grew on me as the season went.

My questions/comments about the vaults 32 and 33. I think their whole purpose was to be breed the leaders and I think this was even mentioned at some point. I think that was the big reveal of the vault's experiment. My questions about them is why would 32 kill themselves off due to finding this out unless it was out of self-righteous guilt and why would they try to reestablish vault 32 after finding it dead? what was the point of sending half over there at the end?

Finished it. Not a game player, so I'm sure some things went over my head. I liked it. Random thoughts:

-There was actually a character named Sorrell Booker and he was dressed kinda like Boss Hogg.

-Lucy McClane (spelled differently) is John McClane's daughter in the Die Hard movies.

I rarely watch shows like this, but tuned in because of Goggins and some good word-of-mouth.

The show is interesting, Goggins is entertaining. I just wish the show were more exciting/gripping.

Just finished and thought they did an amazing job.

Always kind of suspected Vaul-tec had something to do with the Great War happening. Not too crazy about Shady Sands and the NCR being wiped out though. The shot of New Vegas got me hyped up though. I’m guessing Mr. House is still alive and kicking.

Lucy was a good character but I can’t fricking STAND Maximus. I was praying Cooper or someone would kill him. I love siding with the Brotherhood in the games but they were my least favorite part of the show

I finally watched it this weekend. As a fan of the games from way back I really loved the overall atmosphere. They absolutely nailed that. It makes up for the series other shortcomings.

They didnt push the woke button too hard but their version of "diversity" only seems to apply to black characters. It is set in California but there are very few Hispanic or Asian characters in the series? What exactly is Amazon trying to say here? Have they ever bothered to look at the demographics of California?

I will help you out: CA pop as of 2020 - Hispanic/Latino - 39%, White 34%, Asian 15%, Black 5.36%.

I guess they targeted the nukes at all the Mexicans huh?

The story was ok. I think it will pick up with New Vegas in the next season. Alot to work with there.

I hope the Ghoul keeps his edge and they don't turn him into a pussy next season when he meets his family. That would rob the character of his power.

Also not interested in the romance crap. This is Fallout and doesn't need any of that. Hardcore survival and making brutal choices should define the series. I am only in favor of the romance if they kill each other down the road.

Wife and I watched all of it yesterday and we both really enjoyed it. Admittedly I went in with very low expectations but this show delivered on so many different facets. Fallout is one of my favorite game franchises and to see it come to life in a TV series is fricking awesome.

New Vegas should be lot of fun and maybe we will get to meet the Caesar's Legion.

Finished last night.

Question.. I fell asleep during the vault 4 episode finale. I rewound it and still didnt understand the big reveal. Were they doing experiments on humans to create the monsters, or were they trying to undo the experiments? I didn't get that whole subplot for some reason.

Todd Howard has confirmed that New Vegas is officially canon, in response to decisions to the show.

So it prompts the question, which ending of New Vegas is canon?

If New Vegas was destroyed, then it's likely one of the ones where Mr. House is killed by the courier is canon.

There's 4-6 depending on how you view them:

NCR Ending
House Ending
Legion Ending (2 varieties - Caesar in charge vs Lanius in charge)
Yes Man Ending (2 varieties - One with the securitron army, one without)

I'd be inclined to think that the Courier has to kill House and not consolidate power.

Either Legion Ending, and the Yes Man ending where the Courier doesn't get the securitron army, could easily lead to New Vegas being decimated.

It's also possible that Big MT leads to New Vegas being decimated. We know Big MT exists (their executive is present during the Enclave meeting), so depending on the events of New Vegas they may end up doing something bad.

Big MT also has pre-war minds at work, so it's possible THAT is where his family ended up.

I really didn't like the way they presented the Brotherhood. It just felt all wrong

Been a while since I've played the games, but keep in mind this takes place a good 15 years or so after New Vegas, which was about a factional war between the New California Republic and Caesar's Legion.

And we've really only been exposed to this particular chapter within the Brotherhood for now.

Most everyone there seems to have Roman names — Maximus, Thaddeus, Titus — so by proximity theirs could just be some offshoot that happens to integrate elements of the remaining Legion, since both would presumably have a similar anti-NCR bias.

Not sure how I missed this but you’re right, Caesar’s Legion was super badass in FO:NV.
