Not as an audience member, per say. We did a CNN tour in Atlanta when I was in high school. During part of the tour you can watch them film the news. You were on a catwalk above and behind the cameras behind a sound proof glass wall but they had speakers and a TV so you could hear what's going on. I don't know if you still can but at one point, depending on which set was being used, you can see the tour walk through at the top of the screen.

I saw a taping of the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. It was amazing.

I saw a taping of the Weakest Link celebrity show in the first season in late 90s or maybe 2000. It was very long and the celebs were dumb as a red brick! They would ask a round of questions and then everyone would go off stage for 5-10 minutes. Then come back and do another round.
The crabby English lady host was funny and cruel.
Also saw Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Leno and Everybody Loves Raymond. The sit-com taping was interesting.
