Will have to wait. Gotta go back to hometown tomorrow and they have a terrible movie theatre.

That weather is going to make me wait. Don't feel like being in it on top of not liking to go out on Halloween.

If Ender had waited we'd all be bug chow.

Just saw it, loved it.

I am not in the literate camp on this one so I can't compare it to the book.

Just got out of the theatre. Overall I think it was a really good movie. The acting was great and the visuals were incredible. The story was really good as well. I never read the book, but I would certainly recommend seeing this movie. 8 out of 10 IMO.

Anyone see it in IMAX yet and have an opinion on that compared to a regular screen?

I just saw the movie.

Dislike:
- Peter gets only 15 seconds of screen time.
- Shortened the development of friendships.
- Ben Kingsley is a horrible actor.
- Final battle simulation didn't occur on Eros
- The little doctor was HUGE
- The Mind Game didn't translate well from book to movie

Like:
- Fight scenes / CGI
- Graff/Anderson discussions
- Asa did a good job
- Battle room wasn't what I imagined, but worked well.

I was wondering how that'd translate from the book. I'm going to try and catch it this next week. As long as it's okay I'll be happy.

Yea I have no clue how they're going to translate this. It sucks because that was one of the cooler twists of any story I've ever read.

Good, one of the best parts of the book.

This will make or break the movie for me. I have zero clue how they're going to do it.

I haven't read the book but I liked the movie.

I'm gonna start the book this week.

I looked at the series on wiki there looks like some really weird stories/books in the Enders and shadow sagas.

SPOILERS FOR NON BOOK READERS

Things I didn't like:
Campy dialogue (mainly at the beginning)
Peter not taking over the world (he might as well not have existed)
I never saw dwarves build a house out of the giant's carcass.
That Velentine didn't go with Ender in the end.
Everything felt extremely rushed.
Ender's grief scenes were waaaay too short and too few.
(This was probably my biggest gripe because it drives home the "I DESTROY my enemy" point)They never told the audience that Bonzo a and Stilson both died.

Things I liked:
Command School battle scenes.
Visuals.
Acting for the most part.
The reveal to Ender was done well.
That they didn't overly kid-ify it.
The Battle Room.
Ford was a good Graff.

Overall: 7/10
This is an extremely hard book to film but they did a pretty good job. But there are some things I don't get why they left out. Especially why they never said Ender killed Bonzo and Stilson.

I read a synopsis on wiki.

They may have left out a few things to use for a 2nd movie.

Spoilers

The way he found the .......... Was not the same
Peter and world domination
Valentine and leaving for the first colony or Lusitania

Book reader here. I went in with no expectations so I was really pleased with the movie. I didn't expect them to be able to cover all the psychological issues Ender dealt with in battle school so I was prepared for that, but I thought they could have put more time into the background on the school, and certainly in developing Peter and Valentin.

They cut a lot of the strategy aspects from the battle school but overall I thought they did an amazing job visually. That's not at all what I had imagined with the computer game but I thought it worked within this context.

Solid 8/10

***SPOILER***

It's been a bit since I read the book, but did they ever go into a reason why they practiced the way they practiced with parts of your body being frozen and whatnot? I always assumed it would somehow tie into the way the bugs faught but they never really did.

Was the fact that Ender though to shoot feet first just them training to think outside the box or was there some inherent advantage to fighting this way against the actual bugs?
