Yep.

At a minimum, it means they didn’t squander an opportunity, which is the story of Paul going from a brand new Fremen to Muad’dib, who brands his name into history.

It’s all but confirmed that he will make a third film for the sequel book, Dune Messiah, that will finish the story he wants to tell. Whether Messiah is his next movie or not is still to be determined.

At most, I could see them making Dune Messiah and Children Of Dune.

There is little point to go on further than that, IMHO, because the time skip means there aren’t a lot of actors to be retained unless they are playing their descendants.

Denis said he will stop after Messiah, but would be willing to assist if anybody wanted to keep it going. Children of Dune and beyond would be too weird for general audiences but I’d watch.

Children of Dune is at least somewhat in the neighborhood of the first two books, albeit pretty fricked up.

God Emperor on is a no go.

These reviews are great. The Nolan one really excites me since I value his opinion. I’m so pumped for this movie

This is a common criticism of Part 1. He really didn’t spend any time with exposition and hoped you would piece it together.

I went in to Part 1 blind and thought he did a good job building up the world/story with just enough exposition to where I wasn't completely lost. I'm excited for Part 2.

The reviews for Dune Part 2 are coming in and they are raves. Empire Strikes Back is getting tossed around a bit.

Definitely the popcorn part of the novel. If you liked the first one, the second should crush.
Pugh looks great as Irulan.

No surprises here. I loved the first one, and walked away thinking that if that one was so well received then the sequel, where most of the action and most interesting parts of the book happen, is going to kill

There’s also supposed to be a TV series about the origins of the Bene Gesserit called Dune Prophecy coming out this year.

It’s pretty much guaranteed. The only question is whether Denis will do Messiah next or adapt Arthur C. Clarke’s Rendezvous with Rama, which he described as “Arrival on steroids.”

From what I understand, this is adapting the novels the son wrote, so we may need to temper our expectations. But I could be mistaken, I didn’t get that far into the series

We already ate the first half of the pie so we know the second half is going to taste good.

Yeah, but the second half has a lot of tricky stuff to convert to film. I'm excited to see how those scenes take place.

The less I know about this movie before seeing it in theaters, the better.

Rendezvous with Rama is a great book. It's about a mysterious man-made object that comes rocketing into the solar system and a crew gets sent to examine it. It's a lot like 2001 - it raises more questions than it answers. They've talked about making a movie version for years and years. At one point, David Fincher was going to direct and Morgan Freeman was starring/producing.

It's been a long time since I've been this excited for a movie. I was pretty pumped for Oppenheimer and went opening night, but this one exceeds that. I got some seriously high expectations. Loving those reviews.

Same here. I already have tickets for the IMAX early screening this Sunday at 7pm and for the first showing on Thursday at 3pm. The nearest 70mm IMAX is 3 hours away but I’m not ruling it out in a few weeks lol
