Good maybe he'll kill superman

Or maybe he'll kill the entire DC film franchise. This cartoon is going to be pure shite. I hate Marvel and I'm a DC fan through and through, but I'd rather not see any movies at all than these laughable films Warner Bros keeps spitting out.

Who seriously watched the trailer and said, "This is going to be a great film?" I just dropped my head in shame. Why the hell would you waste millions of dollars on what's practically going to be a cartoon when you could have saved millions by just making it another animated film? It's going to be a cgi snorefest, overloaded with campy action and explosions, Michael Bay-esque shots, and an incomprehensible story/plot that's second fiddle to the rest of the bs that takes center stage, just like every Snyder film. I hope and pray this is the proverbial nail in DC's film coffin after it fails to equal one of the more underachieving Marvel films of the last five years. Seriously, how the hell do you frick a movie with so much potential up? Only the people behind the DC films. They never cease to amaze me...

Do you not have a rough idea of Batman's and Superman's origins? Was it possible to enjoy Avengers without having seen all of the individual movies?

quote:

you're assuming they'll have huge roles. The truth is we don't know how they'll be used, I think WW and Aquaman will have small roles which will then lead to them having their own films where they can be fully fleshed out. This film should be mostly all about Superman, batman, and Luthor.

What if someone never saw the character films before seeing the avengers?

quote:

You are assuming everyone who saw The Avengers when it originally premiered also saw the other films leading up to it. The box office numbers pretty much disprove that notion.

My mother, for instance, had never seen a single MCU film before The Avengers and was still able to get enjoyment out of it.

The Avengers cast is tiny compared to AoU, Civil War and BvS and Suicide Squad. These types of movies are getting bigger and bigger. I'll say this, AoU would not have worked as the first team film with that kind of cast. Avengers worked because Whedon is kind of a master at juggling 7-8 characters pretty well. And that's really al he needed to do for that film.

Heck we don't even get major cameos in Avengers, because they must have known it would be too much. And we never see secondary characters like Foster, War Machine, Etc.

+1 I found it incredibly annoying how they were going out of their way to save people. It's as if Whedon was thinking about the MOS criticisms while he was making this film. it was really distracting to me.

Yes and no. They went too far? Yes. Was it annoying? A little tiring. But their aim was right, put the people at the front. These are heroes, supposedly protecting the innocent.

It's freaking comic book movie, there's going to be destruction. Since when did this become such an issue for fanboys everywhere. I completely agree that it's such a lame argument.

The problem with this entire discussion around "destruction," is one side constantly misfires what they say and the other always reduces it down to the simplest of arguments, which is false.

See here. This discussion is only tangentially about "how much destruction." That isn't the point, and that isn't the problem in Man of Steel. But no matter what is said, we always get back to the "how much" argument, which is inaccurate.

I will say that Disney's decision to announce their Phase Three lineup BEFORE Age of Ultron really reduced the impact of the film for me. I knew that not a single major character was going to die. And the person they did kill off had almost no bearing on the story whatsoever. It was also a much, MUCH weaker death then Coulson's in the first Avengers movie.

This is fair and I agree, initially. However, isn't this just like the normal comic book book trope of "in the NEXT BATMAN book...."

Granted it's a much further shot down the road, but still (and Marvel is making a killing at keeping people hyped, so there's something to be said for it.

If a line of dialog was "First I'll kill all the humans you love so much, starting with this city, and then I'll kill you", then at least that makes a bit of sense for Zod to continue to be in the city. But it's made pretty clear that Zod just wants to kill Superman as his primary objective, so spare innocents, get the hell out of there, and fight in some abandoned field miles away. You can punch him into space, so why is this difficult for him?
wat?

Did you actually watch the movie?

His exact line was:
quote:

"I'm going to make them suffer, Kal. These humans you've adopted, I will take them all from you one by one. "
Sometimes people just hear what they want to hear.

Man of Steel was fantastic. Yeah, the colors were bleak and it was a serious movie. That's what made it good and different from the corny prior superman movies.

With the main conflict being between Bats and Supes initially, the true evil will of course reveal itself and many have wondered if we'll get a man of "talk" or a man of "action" in this new version of Luthor. Well, it appears we'll be getting both. According to a very trusted and reliable source, not only will Lex be the main villain, but he will also get in on the action...and will do so wearing his trademark green/purple WARSUIT! That's right, we will finally be seeing Lex don the armor he's worn for decades in the comics and various animated series/films. How will it look exactly? Our source says it will be very much like the many variations we've seen in the past and will obviously fit the style and look of the film (and DCCU films in general). Lex will don the suit for at least part of the film, but it's unclear if it's just in the finale. Either way, he'll be rockin' the suit and that more than likely means a throwdown with Supes (although we can't outright confirm that).

It does make sense that Lex would wear a suit if Batman does, so I'm cool with that.

Yea, I've seen that like 100 times now. Since Superman's Kryptonian parents died along with his earth father, that really is a useless meme.

I've been thinking about Batman vs Superman a little bit. Many people have been complaining about how Superman has been and is being portrayed. I think the direction they're going with this movie is further developing Superman. He has all of this worship, etc. Some people hate him. Batman doesn't trust him. Some people have been saying that Superman would destroy Batman in seconds. I've read that Bruce Wayne has developed a way to compete with Superman blow to blow. Based on this comment by Henry Cavill:

It sounds like Superman might be holding back a little bit. He doesn't want to hurt Batman. He is developing into the Superman we know. Not to say that there aren't other factors also that keep Batman in the fight, but I really like what I'm hearing.
