I watched the 1st episode last night and while the story was certainly interesting and it is well-researched and produced, it felt like a fairly typical murder/crime documentary that is on basic cable 1000x per day.

It's fairly obvious what's coming with Avery being arrested and convicted of murder, and that the show is centered on the possibility of Avery being framed and the corruption/conspiracy brought about by the authorities. Is there any more to it than that?? Any genuinely unexpected twisted and turns in the story?

I'd certainly finish on a rainy day sometime, but I'm trying to decide whether it's worth losing sleep to binge-watch 9 more hours in the immediate future.

Why do you need to binge watch it? If you like it, choose how you want to watch it. If you don't like it, don't watch it.

I found the first 4 episodes pretty good, after that it kinda drags on.

If you're already bored after the first one then it's probably not going to get any better for you.

I wouldn't say I was bored. It was good. Just not as "addicting" to me as I've heard a lot of people say.

My first question after the end of the first episode was how can this extend over 9 more episodes. I don't know, usually when shows get this kind of hype, I'm all in and the hype ends up justified. I was a little disappointed in that regard.

Watch episode 2. Then watch episode 3 whenever you feel compelled to. That's my suggestion.

If never watching again or watching 9 straight hours are your only options, I have no advice for you bc I don't understand your TV viewing habits.

It's boring and it drags, but it's well directed. This is also the first murder-mystery-crime-drama show that I've watched that's based on real events. The fact that the guy was locked up for 12 years for something he didn't do only adds to the intrigue.

I think the Paradise Lost documentaries focusing on the West Memphis Three were the first I saw in this type of genre.

Quite a few similarities in the stories as well.

Unless you got the show spoiled for you or looked up what happens, there is no way you know that much about what is going to happen after 1 episode.

Since you already know what is going to happen, part of the mystique is gone.

I watched most of the first ep last night and also wasn't all that interested. I decided to watch it based off my FB feed with everyone gushing about how great it is and how they couldn't stop watching.

I didn't read any spoilers, but from what I've gathered from watching a little more than half of the first ep is that this guy and his family dont have the greatest relationship with the citizenry of the small town. The main guy is basically a retard who's done some dumb shite. He runs his car into & pulls a gun on a cops wife. shite then hits the fan when they frame him for rape. He spends 18 yrs in jail until DNA proves his innocence. He sues the people who prosecuted him.
A murder happens. They "frame" retard again. He is now back in jail again.

Is that basically the gist of this show?
Don't think I'll be watching anymore of it and I'm beginning to wonder if my friends who have raved about it are retards themselves.

This begs the question of which is "better", Paradise Lost movies or Making a Murderer?

I love both, but would definitely pick Paradise Lost.

This show isn't about whether or not Steve Avery is guilty or innocent, however, many feel that what happens to him is unfair.

It's more to show you how fricked up court rooms and trials are if you happen to stumble across a dead body while digging a hole for a tree one day in your yard.

I enjoyed the show, but I don't think it's as great as everyone says it is. Personally, I think the people raving about it are people who for some ungodly reason thought the court system was bulletproof.

You aren't intelligent enough to watch the show I guess. There's more to it than Steven Avery's innocence or guilt. That might be over your head though.

It's very well made but it's about three episodes too long.

It's like clockwork. An unknown show can be talked about for X amount of days, then boom this shows sucks blah blah blah.
