I need a new show. I liked weeds, l word, queer as folk, polyamory and gigalos

Dexter I understand, but Californication is a comdey/drama. Nothing scary about it at all.

As a whole, I like Showtime and it's series far more then HBO.

I love the history of that era so I like it. The show isn't historically perfect but it's surprisingly close for the most part, aside from a few things I can look past. But yeah it's subdued compared to Game of Thrones et al

You would really like Homeland since you can relate to the main character, Carrie. She's a bi-polar sex- addicted crazy person that cries a lot and makes terrible faces.

Shameless (But like all Showtime shows, it's getting spotty in its old age. Season before last was the best one.)
For older series, definitely The Tudors.
