I'm looking at his projects since Mad Men and upcoming projects and its pretty ho-hum. After The Town I thought he had a shot to transition but now i have my doubts.

Will he ever make the jump?

He'll never be a big time movie star. Might get another good tv role though

When you're so closely identified with one role, it might be tough to do a lot besides voice work, of which he's doing plenty.

Plus there was that run on Children's Hospital!

He was in such an iconic role that, as said, it's tough to break.

And it's a shame honestly. He's got some decent comedic value. I could see him several more years down the road being that guy that shows up in some random role that ends up with an Oscar.

Worked for Clooney and he started off with a big fat stinker in Batman & Robin.

I don't think that he was "too big" as Draper to move on to a film career. Clooney was a much bigger deal on ER than Hamm was as Don Draper.

He might not have the screen presence that directors are looking for. Or he may be so dead set on being in comedies that he's passing on films that don't excite him.

He's done a shite-ton of small comedic roles. The guy says yes to any comedy that will have him (it seems).

Yeah...

He's George Reeves.

His role was too iconic.

(And partly, if you see him outside the Mad Men writing...he's not really that great...see that Indian baseball movie or other stuff he's done...he's kinda just another guy.)

Mad Men style and writing...made Jon Hamm a star.

He could be good in a war movie. He has that look.

Yeah you just can't get away from Don Draper

That role was also just perfectly fitted for his looks and I don't think he's an objectively good or great actor. And I'm a huge MM fan

I think this board vastly over estimates the popularity of madmen

And this SNL skit is gold, Jerry.

Maybe he likes what he is doing, and is trying to distance himself from the Don Draper role. He could probably have more higher profile roles than what he's taken, but maybe he doesnt want them.

The guy was humping it working small roles and waiting tables into his 30s.

I bet hes just having fun and enjoying life.
