From what I recall, the mud fountain is creative license.

Excellent trailer for what should be a good film.

This trailer shows the MI SWACO guys on the rig floor. Blair Manuel and Gordon Jones were thought to be in the Mud Room, not on the rig floor when the driller lost well control. The fluid returns were diverted to the mud gas separator instead of overboard and this caused the Mud Room to fill up with gas vapor. It is suspected that they were already dead or close to dying before Engines 3 and 6 oversped and exploded, killing everyone in the Asst Driller's Shack and on the rig floor

Are they portrayed in the movie? I don't see on IMDB where their names are tied to an actor.
Did the families of the deceased have to agree to the portrayal of the workers? Just curious how a movie like this would be done.

They both worked for Mi-Swaco and they show a guy in Mi-Swaco coveralls in the trailer so I would assume they are

I've never read up on the exact events, so I didn't know that a couple of them were gone before it even exploded. I met Gordon a week before the DH exploded. He was at a crawfish boil where we shared mutual friends. Just one of those single encounters where you meet someone and then usually forget them soon after. He's one of those single encounters that has stuck with me because of what happened to him a week later. His son was very young, and he probable doesn't have any memories of his father, but you could see Gordon and his son playing with their plastic gold clubs in the backyard and know that he cared for him. His pregnant wife was sitting off in the shade of the barn. I don't know Gordon other than bumping elbows with him at a table as we ate crawfish, but I hope his wife, son, and second son he never knew are doing well. I see pictures of DH and hope that Gordon met a quick and painless end in that inferno. Such is life, though.
End tangent.
End tangent.

They taped this in the lowes parking lot in Chalmette (i live in Arabi). The burnt up prop rig was there for a few weeks. Was pretty cool.
