I think a single, well crafted surprise skit or opening would be better. An entire show seems kind of gimmicky and a slippery slope. Although I don't watch much snl these days. Apologies if they're already doing things like this.

I disagree. This would be the first fictional character to host SNL and would be off the chain stupid funny.
The only problems I see are two-fold....1) You would need some serious licensing permission from Fox and/or Marvel (but I can't see why they wouldn't be on board) and
2) Ryan's voice is muffled under the mask. They digitally enhanced it for the movie so it was clear. Dunno how he would sound live.
