They should let him be on a show that people actually watch though.

That would be very smart of SNL, would get a new audience for them in the biggest money demographic.

Without a doubt. I'm interested to see how far this goes.

They should have done it before the movie came out.

they still get 4-5 million live viewers on average and it pushes up to around 7-9 million with +7 numbers depending on the guest.

to put that in perspective a show like Brooklyn 99 averages a little less than 3 million live viewers an episode this season.

Is anyone else annoyed with all the deadpool hype / ads? The concept of the movie sounds interesting, and I was thinking about seeing it, but all of the ads have been super lame.

Jonah Hill is hosting March 5th.

They'll miss a big opportunity if he doesn't walk out to do the monologue dressed as Deadpool.

Yes. I'm tired of hearing about it.

Probably would be terrible since all jokes from the movie wouldn't be allowed on TV. Also because its still SNL

The ironic thing about the marketing was that it was only effective on those who knew about Deadpool already and got the joke. The most important part of marketing is getting a brand or product known to those who otherwise wouldn't know about it and in that sense I think the marketing with the fake romantic billboards were a big failure.

Obviously the movie has been a phenomenal success but only because there has been a huge desire to see it made into a movie for many years and even Ryan Reynolds tried for 8 years to get it made. Not necessarily because of a marketing campaign that was really just inside jokes for fan boys and girls already in the know.

I surely hope this is not a serious response. A Deadpool movie makes over $150 million in 4 days and you think it was due to people wanting to see it because they heard Ryan Reynolds has been trying to get it made for a long time? Not the marketing?

It sounds great at the surface but Deadpool would not work on a network sketch show. Before we get into the profanity and the violence, his shear ultra awareness of him being a made up character and constantly breaking the 4th wall would sabatoge every single sketch. Then again, that's something Deadpool would do so who knows

Says the Deadpool fanboy with a Deadpool avatar.

The actual trailers that they showed for the film and played 8 million times a day, all day were effective but the fake Valentine's movie stuff did not draw anyone in to see Deadpool.

I had no idea who Deadpool was and I was intrigued by the marketing. Then when the reviews started coming out, I went and saw it.
