quote:

“Vancouver police can confirm that a female stunt driver has died on the set of ‘Deadpool’ during a stunt on a motorcycle,” the Vancouver PD said in a statement. The event took place around 8:20 a.m. on Monday when the stuntwoman crashed through the glass of the Shaw Tower’s ground floor studio.

Woah... I wonder if this was a planned scene, or if she was just messing around on the bike?

That's terrible to hear.

Why? It's a shitty situation but it's actually not as uncommon as you think. They had a stuntman die in the car chase scene in The Dark Knight.

Film will be unusable right? No way they use it in the movie. Rip

Depends on the circumstances. The Twilight Zone Movie had multiple deaths that were a direct result of circumventing the child labor laws. It still got released. The Greg Allman biopic had one death due to illegal activity and it got dropped.

Unless this is a result of gross negligence, I doubt they'll delay the Deadpool movie.

Pretty sure they usually rewrite or edit to omit the scene associated with the death. The public will know, "Ah, that's the stunt they were trying when that woman was killed."

A NOLA stuntman died a few weeks ago on The Walking Dead and they shut down for a week. They probably suspended production for the day and it was likely the 2nd Unit crew.

Tragic and traumatizing for a crew for sure.

Not that common ... only second stunt person to die on set in 17 years ... the Dark Knight casualty was a SFX tech.

Is it sad? Of course. But these people do very dangerous jobs and sometimes things just go wrong.

Wasn't that other death while filming the original xXx? Some kind of paragliding stunt IIRC.

Showing your age. Also, he had Heather Thomas to keep him going.

The show will go on. Most likely they will shut production down. At that point it is not only a respect thing but a time for crew members that witnessed it go deal with it.

It is a sad situation and one many stunt team members know is the risk with what they do. JW is right though, this is the second death in 17 years in set but unfortunately being recent tragedies. Thoughts go out to the stunt woman, her family and friends.

Damn that sucks...and that's the reason studios don't let stars do their own stunts.

Twilight Zone was my first thought, too. Maybe the most grossly negligent example as well.

Another film that lost a stuntman (a decorated vet and prodigious parachuter) was The Right Stuff.

Hmm, I just watched The Stunt
Man last week (no one replied to my topic). It was about a crazy director helping a fugitive escape from police but in return, he had to do stunts for the director's movie. Thinknthe movie did a good job of showing you how much prep goes into stunts but how despite all of that, they're very dangerous and susceptible to chance
